Microsoft Account Settings

I have been trying to update my Microsoft account settings, however whenever I try to update them I get this screen

This implies that I have to leave a family group in order to update my settings, however I am not part of any family groups

So how do I leave a family group that doesn't exist in order to update my Microsoft account settings?

It is very likely that your account is underage, which is why you cannot change your account's privacy settings. You will need an adult account and are in a family group for an adult to change settings for you.

The solution to your issue is by creating a new Microsoft account with a 18+ date of birth, do not use an existing one you will have the same issue. Make the new account and then make a family group and invite your existing account to that group as a member. Accept it to the group then go into your new account and change the privacy settings on the family group for your existing account. You then have bypassed the Xbox account block.

I have just had this same issue for some unknown reason even though my Xbox account is 18+ on the DOB. This fixed the issue even though it is a little annoying having to change settings through a different account .

First, can you verify that you're still experiencing this issue? While investigating, I've seen similar issues that have resolved themselves for some users.

Can you also verify whether or not you have and Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription? The reason I'm asking is because Xbox Game Pass for Console does not include access to Xbox Live Gold.
