Microsoft account privacy settings for Minecraft

I am on an Xbox One and I have Minecraft. For the past month I have been seeing a message on my friends tab saying "You cannot play multiplayer because of how your Microsoft Account is set up. Please ensure your online safety settings allow Multiplayer and Club and you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. See instructions for changing these settings at......"

I have been trying for 2 days now to play on my multiplayer world with my son. I have been all over Google and Xbox.com an Microsoft.com and almost every single fix I have come across I have tried and still have this issue. My NAT is open. my UPnP is on. My Gamepass is still good for 9 days. All of my Xbox privacy settings are allowing. All of my Microsoft privacy settings are allowing. I am not part of a Microsoft family. I am 35 years old and confirmed my birthday is accurate on my account. I have power cycled my router. I have reset my Xbox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I am appearing online. I have removed and added my gamertag on my Xbox. The only thing I have not tried is factory resetting my Xbox and I don't want to do that. I have had issues in the past with trying to reload my saved Minecraft worlds. Either the user data doesn't fully sync or the world becomes corrupted and it tells me to reload the world on the console it was originally on an try again. But if the original console it was on was just factory reset and I can't load the world up like it has happened so many times then I will lose this survival world that my son and I have poured 2 years into. And I am not willing to lose this world. I feel like this is obvious, but I'm going to say it anyway. Yes, we both have the same version of Minecraft. We have been playing together on this world, me on my Xbox, he on his, for 2 years now. This is a new issue. I have recently started a new job and I work 3rd shift so our playtime has been severely reduced which is why I haven't tried to fix the error message I have been seeing the past month. We haven't played together since before Thanksgiving. Until 2 days ago when we tried. I am beyond frustrated and I have no new options. Can anyone help?

First, can you verify that you're still experiencing this issue? While investigating, I've seen similar issues that have resolved themselves for some users.

Can you also verify whether or not you have and Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription? The reason I'm asking is because Xbox Game Pass for Console does not include access to Xbox Live Gold.

As far as i know an Xbox Live account (Gamertag) is required for minecraft on the nintendo switch. To change the
privacy settings i recommend this guide:

https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox-one-privacy-and-online-safety

No Xbox One is needed to change the
privacy settings. This can also be done on Xbox.com

*Log in with the microsoft account linked to Minecraft Nintendo Switch

Did you set your permissions on your Xbox account to be able to do it?

To change your Xbox account privacy settings, sign in to the privacy & online safety page:

https://account.xbox.com/settings

Set all the settings to "Allow" or "Everyone" on the three tabs:

Privacy;

Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Windows 10 Online Security;

Xbox 360 Online Security;

If you’re on a child account, you’ll need an adult in your family to sign in to their Microsoft account to change your privacy settings. This is done through the Family settings.

Even though you will be playing Minecraft on Nintendo Switch, it will still use your Microsoft/Xbox privacy settings, since you sign in to Minecraft with your Microsoft/Xbox account.

Just check you are not part of Microsoft Family account. There is a privacy setting that restricts playing Minecraft Dungeons.

If you are, these setting can be changed by an account organiser using the Xbox Family settings app.
