Microsoft Account Deleted Still Linked to PlayStation

The Microsoft account connected to my PS4 has been deleted for well over a year now, I got a PS5 and attempted to sign into Minecraft with my new Microsoft account, however I get prompted with an error message saying the account (PlayStation) is linked to another Microsoft account.

My question is, why upon deleting a Microsoft account does the PlayStation account remain connected to that Microsoft account, it would seem to make more sense that as part of the deletion process it would automatically disconnect/deactivate thus allowing a user to sign in with a new MS account. This would avoid the trouble and headache a user encounters when trying to log into Minecraft with their new Microsoft.

So as it stands now, is there truly no other way to link my new Microsoft account without creating a brand new PlayStation ID, there has to be customer support for this issue right? I see I am not the only one with this problem.

Simply relying on the user to delink first doesn’t seem reasonable as people forget, for example when you delete a Google account it doesn’t mean if you forget to log out of your Nest thermostat that you are locked out from ever using your thermostat again with a different Google account. Please fix this as it would make a lot of people’s life easier. Thanks!

Hi Brock!

Since it's an in-game account concern, it may differ to the whole process of deleting your Microsoft account itself. This has something to do with the Minecraft account system itself and not Microsoft account. bought sea of thieves and accidentally linked my deleted Microsoft account to my PlayStation one. I know longer can play the game anymore because I can’t connect it to my new Microsoft account. I was wondering if yall could delete my old Microsoft account from my PlayStation account.

Microsoft cant do that since the linking is starts from Sony's end.

Be warned, account linking is a permanent decision, as players are only able to link a single Microsoft account to a single PlayStation™Network account. Only use the Microsoft account on which you intend to carry over your progress to launch!

So basically you can never link a different Microsoft account to your Playstation account. It will be forever tied to the deleted Microsoft account.

Keep in mind this is a restriction imposed by Sony. Not Microsoft.

I play on PlayStation and the account that’s linked to it is deleted and still says log in with said deleted account

Unfortunately theres nothing that can be done about that because Sony only lets you link a single Microsoft account to your PSN for Minecraft.

Even if you could unlink the old Microsoft account, Sony wont let you link a different one.

The only option is to create a brand new PSN account and link a new Microsoft account to that.

Please note that you can only link one PSN account to one Minecraft account, if you disconnect it, you won't be able to link another PSN account to it.

Once a Microsoft account has been linked to a PlayStation account, neither the Microsoft account nor the PlayStation Network account can be associated with a different account.

If you choose to unlink accounts, then purchases will be returned to the account that made the purchase. Even after unlinking, Microsoft and PlayStation accounts can only be re-linked to the original account.

You can try clearing your game save data and do the linking process again.

On your PlayStation console, delete the Minecraft local save data, this will enable you to link the account again.

Follow these steps:

On your PS4, Go to Settings > Application Data Management > Saved data in System Storage >

Select Console Storage and select Minecraft > Delete.

Once deleted, launch the game again and do the linking process one more time.

I linked my Microsoft account to another psn account because i didnt create another one

However when i did create it it said this account is already connected

The unlinking did not work do i tried everything else

I deleted the game

I logged out of the other psn account

And now the option came and still EVEN AFTER UNLINKING MY ACCOUNT FROM THE FIRST PSN ACCOUNT IT STILL SAID ITS ALREADY CONNECTED I EVEN DELETED MY DATA BUT STILL THE SAME ISSUE CAME

ON PS5 MY MICROSOFT ACCOUNT DOESNT EVEN SHOW UP

So basically even if you unlink your psn account from your Microsoft account it still will only ever let you relink the original account that was previously linked. Hence why you still get the errors of it being linked to another psn account because in a way it will still be forever linked. Hope that makes sense.
