Microsoft account already assigned to profile but ain't mine.

Hi all,

For some weird reason it seems like someone made an Xbox profile with my Microsoft account and now I need to figure how to delete this profile.

I have never had any signs of getting my account hacked so I'm not worried on that side.

I found that out by accident cause I wanted my Xbox profile to be on Xbox Live thus needing it to be connected to my Microsoft account.

I started to dig deeper when I got told my email address was already associated to an account.

So I tried to contact Xbox support but every path leads me to the forum and I can't get a phone number or any email address.

Already assigned to another profile?

Hi there, SadBiscuit;

You said that you created the account on the website and then went to "activate it" on the Xbox. When you were on the console, did you attempt to "create" the account or did you choose to download a profile? Because you created it online, the profile now
exists and needs to be downloaded to your console in order to be put onto your console. This support page will walk you through downloading the profile to your console:

Already assigned to another profile?

I signed up on website for xbox live account. Went on xbox to activte it and after entering email and password (the same as used on Microsoft account, right?) i t says that that account is already assigned to another profile. I thought maybe i should try
making a new Microsoft account and starting over but im afraid ill lose the $60 card i already entered into this account. I know absolutly nothing about technology. Trying to set this up for my son. Someone please help before he drives me crazy asking me
to fix this lol. Is there a help number i can call for Microsoft? Would be easier...couldn't find one. Tried asking help desk but the box you enter your name in is greyed out and can't enter anything in the required field. Ugh.

Thanks for your post! A default Xbox Profile is given to Microsoft accounts, usually it is two random words followed by numbers. These GamerTags are just to get started and can be changed once for free. If you'd like to change your GamerTag check out this

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to inform you the option to transfer saved data, achievements and any/or game purchases
from another Microsoft Account will not be possible. We currently do not have an available feature. The one step we have available is
changing
the primary email on the Microsoft account.
Note:If you choose to remove an alias that uses a Microsoft domain such
as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com, that alias will be completely deleted and will not be available to sign in to any Microsoft services.

Unfortunately, if the email you are trying to use is taken, you will need to

Recover the Microsoft Account with the email associated.

Try this and let us know the results.

However, I already have an offline Xbox profile with saves and lots of Gamer points/acheivements that I'd like to keep. I would like to make this profile my Xbox Live profile but as mentionned in the email above I already have a GamerTag associated to it.

At least I now know that my account hasn't been hacked thanks to your explanation.

The GamerTag that I have at the moment is: 93

Could it be possible to delete this GamerTag/Profile so that I could assign my Microsoft account to my offline profile?
