    Microphone that aint a Headset


    Hi, I used Kinect as a microphone (never really played the games so that wasn't a miss) rather than having to wear uncomfortable headsets which was the dream.. ive noticed that there is no microphone setting that enables non headset hardware. I know they now don't support kinect games and the hardware but they should have left it where it can at least be used as a microphone like its predecessor could. by yourself, I feel only having headsets as microphones on the new console is a bit outdated. Bring back USB style microphones in a future update

    Do you have a headset where this worked before? Or did you change headsets and since then the Microphone is muted?

    There are two types of 3.5mm headphone jacks called OMTP and CTIA. On both standards, the microphone connector is switched with the ground connector. So if you have an OMTP headset, the controller is listening for a microphone on the ground connector, while
    the microphone sends signals to the controller ground.

    Check to see if the microphone on the headset is muted. Some headsets have a mute button on the headset itself or on the cable.

    To check if the microphone on your headset is muted, follow these steps:

    Open the "Settings" application.
    Select "Sound & Display".
    Select "Audio".
    Select "Microphone".
    Check the "Microphone Mute" button. If the button is on, the microphone is muted.

    Check your console's audio settings. Make sure that the headset microphone is selected as the audio input device.

    To check your console's audio settings, follow these steps:

    Open the "Settings" application.
    Select "Sound & Display".
    Select "Audio".
    Select "Input Devices".
    Make sure that the headset microphone is selected as the input device.

    You can also test the headset on another version of the console. If the microphone works on another version of the console, then the problem is related to your console version. In this case, it is possible that your console is not compatible with your headset.

    MInes started doing this lately aswell it's annoying, i have had to hard reset twice to fix it and then the other day it did it again but that was when i tried to connect my headset when i was already in the party so now i've just unchecked the use kinect
    as a microphone box and i try and connect my headset before i turn my console on and it seems to be ok for now.... i aint sure of any sure fired fix but that above may alleviate it a bit

    The headset and microphone works on another xbox and controller.

    I have tried it on 2 controllers on the bone that is muted.
