Microphone on Xbox app Windows 10 making fuzzy very loud noise.

Hello,

I have been having this problem for a while now and it is very irritating because i cannot talk to my Xbox friends on my PC so I hope someone can help me. My problem is that whenever i join a party on Xbox console companion my microphone makes a very loud
annoying noise which makes all my friends mute me because it is so loud. If i try to speak my voice is drowned out by the very loud distorted fuzzy sound.

I have searched this problem up online but all the answers seem to result in right clicking on the sound icon and going into recording devices but i do not have that option on windows 10 version 1903 and it has never worked for me.

I hope someone can help me with my problem.

I have had the same issue and changing the recording devices has not worked for me but I do know how to change it even when you can't see the option on your task bar. You should press win + r and enter control mmsys.cpl , this will bring up the option to change your recording devices. You should click the recordings tab and double click the mic you are using, then click the advanced tab and you can change it from there. I know I'm around a year late but hopefully this works for others

Hello Brad,

Thanks for responding to my post. I use a mic that plugs into a headset and it is a turtle beach headset, Also the mic works perfectly fine for Fortnite, discord and other games its just the Xbox app. I have the speaker icon but when i right click on it
all that comes up is / Open sound settings, Open volume mixer, Spatial sounds and troubleshoot sound problems.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. What type of mic do you use? is it one built in the PC or is it one that plugs in? You do not have the speaker icon in bottom corner of the task bar? With the speaker you can adjust the mic monitoring. If
you try recording devices and doesn't open keep clicking it until it opens. Also make sure any enhancements there are not checked.

Im assuming you had microphone near console when recording which is why it sounds loud in that video.

Sounds normal to me and some of that noise will be the hard drive which makes clicky grinding type noises.

Hi there!

From what I read above it just seems as though the disc drive is the cause to the noises, maybe when the laser moves when reading the disc perhaps. If the console is not damaging your discs and is not causing playability issues
(i.e. freezing of games, disc read errors etc...), then I wouldn't worry to much about it.

What you could try is installing the games you play most, this way, once installed the information is read by the hard drive and not the disc drive. To install a game simply follow these steps:

Navigate to the "My xbox" slide on your dashboard.
Highlight the first box, being the disc drive/inserted game tab.
Hit Y on your controller and select the option to install the game.
