    That's why you attach your card to your account to get points from your card.

    Then again, that isn't the safest approach.

    What is the email from?

    If it's from the Rewards program, rewards credits are not the same as Microsoft points so the conversion rate is not the same. You can check the program's FAQ to see how much 5,000 credits is in your region.

    Exactly, take it back to where you got it from and get a new one. Don't understand why you would have to pay extra money out again when you've already paid for one.
