    Mic not working


    I dropped my controller and since then the microphone has not worked.

    This wouldn't be weird if I hadn't gone out and purchased a new controller and headset. Still no sound output when chatting, the mic icon is there but it never animates to show me talking.

    Tried checking to see if the mic was muted under preferences > voice, but that setting no longer exists apparently.

    Any ideas?

    ive replaced the cord and 2.5 to 3.5 mm attachment and still no beans and i really dont want to delete my profile off my xbox.

    I have a similar problem see below

    Xbox one original controller, stereo headset adapter and headset and I can hear in game chat but as soon as I connect to party chat, they can hear me but I cannot hear them. I tried the original headset that comes with the xbox one and it worked so I figured
    it was the stereo adapter. so I purchased a new stereo adapter and have the same issue. so I purchased a new controller with 3.5mm jack. I have the same issue. but if I use my headset connected to the 3.5mm jack on the new controller party chat works fine,
    but doesn't work connected to stereo adapter (and I tried 2) So I thought I would try on my sons xbox one (we have 2 xbox ones in the house) so we swapped headsets , controllers and stereo adapters and I had the same problem on my xbox one. whereas his was
    working fine (and he was using my controller, headset and adapter) So it would seem to be an issue with my console, that is the only hardware difference. any ideas?

    Hi,

    See if any of the suggestions given here -
    support.xbox.com/.../wired-headset-help     might help.

    If it doesn't, you may have to contact Support to request a repair as suggested in the link if you're so inclined.

    Just entertain, for the moment, there is a firmware issue. I am seeing more and more people complaining that chat, thru their headset, is not working. I can make it work thru the Kinect, but not the headset. I have tried the headset on other devices that
    utilize 3.5 jacks, they work. But ONLY Xbox do they not work. I have tried multiple headsets with the same results. I am using an adapter. My son has a controller that does not need an adapter, he also sees the same issue.

    Too many coincidences to believe everyone's headset/adapters all stopped working at the same time.

    And yes, I have done the troubleshooting. Inclusive of an Xbox One restart. Updates are all done.

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Again, my headsets work on other devices.

    Me and 4 friends have the same issue, we bought the new controller with the 3.5 because the xbox one head set doesnt work out of nowhere, we try everything and it is definitely a xbox bug problem.

    Sorry to hear that the solutions didn't work!

    Please make sure that both the controller and Xbox One console are up-to-date. Who is the manufacturer and which models are the headsets? Do you remember when you purchased your headsets? If you've recently purchased them within the last 30 days, you may
    be able to exchange them with the retailer.
