Mic not working - line across mic icon

The line means you are muted, go to party settings and press unmute.

Seems like there are hundreds of threads on this issue and no fix. Cleary its an xbox fault

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue trying to use your headset with your console.

I split your post from it's original thread so that we could make sure that you receive the appropriate attention.

Now there could be multiple factors potentially resulting in this thing happening with your console.

Have you have the same problem occur with other controllers?

I suggest if you haven't yet, checking out the steps outlined here on our support page entitled

Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting to see if that helps resolve the issue.

If and when you get a chance, give that a shot and let us know about the other controllers.

The controller might be faulty or it may just need to have it's firmware updated:

If the new controller still doesn't work with your headset after a firmware update then if console is brand new you might be able to get your store to replace the controller and/or whole system if they won't do a partial replacement. Remove your profile
from the console before taking it back to the store.

Ive tried everything, same issue greyed out muted mic symbol and no options when headset connected. It works fine on ps4.

Checked all permissions, reset controller, firmware is up to date, even soft reset console , repaired controller.

The console is brand new so guess ill have to swap it out as seems to be faulty.
