Mic monitoring resets everytime I plug in my controller and headset

Being able to hear yourself speak or voice feedback is also known as mic monitoring and depends on what headset you have and how it's plugged into the controller whether or not it is available.

Can you tell us what model you have and how it plugs into the controller? Does it plug in to the 3.5mm port or does it come with a headset adapter?

Headsets that plug into the 3.5 mm port will add an "Audio" option found under the System tab of the Xbox Guide. It should be right below the Settings option. There you can turn the mic on or off, control the volume and chat mixer, and manage mic monitoring
which is controlled with a slider.

Other headsets with adapter's or one's that utilize an app will need to have mic monitoring turned on from those settings if they have them available.

For me, I unplug both the mic and turn off controller then plug them back in.

Then I realise my mic is muted from the headset. I have a Turtle Beach Recon 50x so there is a switch on the wire to mute the mic.

You can also check the audio settings to see if mic monitoring is all the way up.

I did that and sadly no give. When my headset is plugged in. The only mic i can turn on or off is my kinect.

on xbox i just use my trusty turtle beach xo4 or xo7 pro headsets, good mic, the pro has awsome mic monitoring and thumping sound, but i do use the turtle beach adapter with sound settings, the xbox audio controls when plugged directly into the controller
are horrid.
