Mic does not work in party while using a controller on pc

So I have been playing games with the game pass on my new pc. Party chat and everything works great. I got a controller to play with instead because some games i want to play with a controller. As soon as i plug in the controller the usb mic doesnt work
anymore. I can still hear the game sound. But i can no linger hear anyone or talk to anyone party or not. I have gone through all the computer and xbox app settings to set everything back to my usb mic but it refuses to use it. All settings say its in use
but it is not.

I have tried downloading the 360 app from microsoft. I have every setting on the pc saying it is using the usb mic at full volume. But the xbox game bar refuses to let me use it in a party chat. (Only when inuse the controller). I have to restart my pc and
unplug the controller to be able to party chat. And it works great. Until i plug in the controller. So i guess i just have to get better at keyboard mouse gaming.

I thing you need to connect the mic to the pc not the controller. That option don't work on pc. I have tried here on my end and the result it's the same.

Thats what I'm doing.. the only thing I am doing different from playing keyboard/mouse is the controller itself. but when i plug it in every setting on the pc changes to controller mic. Even though the controller has no mic. So I go back through all the
pc settings and xbox companion settings and change it back but the xbox game bar will not let me use the usb mic anymore. I have to unplug the controller and reset the pc to be able to use my mic again. when I start a party in the companion app it says my
mic is working , but if i am in a party on that app for some reason I'm not in a party on the game bar... so if i start a party on the game bar the mic still doesn't work..

USB Mic hooked up to PC. Using The Windows 10 Xbox App for party chat. I have a separate headset (broken mic, thus the reason for using the Yeti) on the Xbox One X console. I want to be able to communicate, and the only way I'm able to, at the moment,
is the party app. My earbuds that have a mic on them works with the controller and console but the audio quality isn't very good. That's why I want to use my better headset to hear all the audio while I talk through the mic on the app. I don't know if it's
possible. Just hoping there's a work-around

May I know what exactly happens when you join game chat? Does your mic work fine in party chat?
Is your headset/mic connected directly to your PC or through your Xbox controller?
What's your headset/mic make & model?

I am not sure that a Mic alone will work. I do know that headsets will work via the Jack on the bottom of the controller. The Xbox does not support third party stand alone mics.
