    Messed up mic ONLY on xbox apps for pc.


    My mic sounds choppy/static/weird for my friends in Xbox game bar/Xbox App parties on pc. This problem is not present in gameclips I make nor in any other apps on my pc. It is exclusive to Xbox parties.

    I can connect to parties and hear everyone else just fine, I just sound like an abomination on their ends.

    Again, this problem is not present in my other pc apps like Discord nor in my gameclips I record through Xbox game bar!

    I tried turning off echo cancellation in the registry and it didn't do anything.

    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox services but I'm not sure it fully got rid of them (example: my keybinds were kept).

    I just want to participate in parties again bro please haha.

    I have no clue at this point. I just try to coerce my friends to join discord on their Xbox, where everything is fine!

    We understand that your friends is trying to hear you well while gaming. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

    Based on your description, this issue only happens with Xbox Party and heard by your friends meanwhile you did not hear any static or choppy sound from your own mic on recording or other apps. This issue needs to be isolated because there are common factors that may have caused this issue: headset could be faulty, Xbox Game Bar or Xbox app might need repair/update/reinstallation, network issues, or VPN/software that may hinder your sound output.

    To better isolate your issue, we would like to ask for few questions:

    1. Would you mind asking your friend to record the part where you sound choppy/static?
    2. Have you tried to using different headset? Will issue persist?
    3. Do you have or your friends have a VPN or third party software running in the background while playing games?
    4. What is your headset make and model?

    Still having the same problem? This has been happening to me for about the last month, tried just about everything and yes, the only issue exists in Xbox game bar.

    So right after I posted that I found a recent reddit thread that had my solution in it: https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/x5zt1q/bad_mic_quality_on_game_bar/

    "Right click the speakers icon in the bottom right of the task bar and click 'Sounds'

    Switch to the Recording tab and then double-click your microphone

    Then go to the Advanced tab on the far right, open the Default Format dropdown and select the highest sample rate possible, click yes on warning."
