Melted xbox one controller

xbox one controller melted. Was NOT plugged in, was NOT left on. Only used a handful of times.

Why would this happen? This could have been serious!

I've spent numerous hours trying to contact someone from Microsoft/xbox with no luck

weird how that happened and not being plugged in or on, what batteries are you using in the controller, that also looks like it has melted from the outside as the d pad is distorted and that has a seperate plastic section
underneath. and in the picture the other plastic beneath is not melted so look like it was external heat, where is it stored.

that was the case, wouldn't the xbox and other controller be damaged too as this is where it has been since last use?

The batteries melted your controller? That's pretty unfortunate.

Xbox One Controllers come with a 90 day warranty from purchase date, even the ones that come with the console. You can
see here for repair/replacement options.

I'd also check Orb's website for more help, especially if they can do anything with their products melting your controller.
