Melted Controller

Hello,

just recently i plugged my controller which has a recharge pack in to charge it up as it was low on battery, the charge pack and cord are genuine xbox, after a relatively short period of time i could smell plastic melting and after a look around the living
room noticed it was coming from my controller, when i tried to pick it up i had to imediately let it go as it was that hot! If i had plugged it in before going to bed i could have woken up to more than just a burnt controller.

I have tried to go through customer support but with a digital assitant that will only allow you to ask certain questions and no support contact to be found i have had to resort to coming on here.

due to the lack of customer support and seriousness of the matter i am outraged and will pursue this matter legally if need be.

Burned up xbox one contoller.

I purchased an additional Halo controller last Christmas for the kids. About a month ago it quit working and I removed the back to see if the batteries were dead. When I took the batteries out I noticed the plastic on the controller was melted. Upon further
visual inspection it was apparent that a chip in the controller had burned causing the plastic to melt. Is there a warranty on the controller?

Xbox One Controllers come with a 90 day warranty from purchase date, even the ones that come with the console. You can
see here for repair/replacement options.

I'd also check Orb's website for more help, especially if they can do anything with their products melting your controller.

You are lucky your house didn't burn down.

MS will not replace the controller. You will need to buy a new one. Also, I'd go to the place you bought the charge kit from and see if they can do anything for you. At the very least they could give you a new charge kit.

I'd recommend using AA rechargeable batteries. That's what I use and I've never had problems.

 

MS does have ways to handle this.

When you go to support.xbox.com/contact-us click on billing then click on virtual agent and when the virtual agent box comes up if you type in talk to an agent 2 times it will bring up a live agent for you to chat with.
