    'Sup guys!

    I'm having some trouble lately using the mediaplayer-app. I have this external HDD, 258G, usb 2.0, and I've been using that thing for months to play videofiles on my Xbone. But since a few weeks, my Xbone doesn't seem to recognize the HDD anymore. I always
    plug it in the usb-port on the leftside of the console.

    My HDD is formatted in NFTS, and it always worked just fine. Does anyone have a clue about fixing this?

    that's not true, i have 1 external hdd and 2 flash drives and it recognizes them all

    Xbox is not detecting my external hardrive.

    Sometimes external HDD die, have you tried connecting the drive to your PC to see if it can recognize it? If the PC doesn't see it too then it's probably the external storage that is faulty.

    As the possibility of using an external harddrive with the new mediaplayer app is coming with the September update, you may just format your drive again on your computer and then use it exactly the same way like you used to do with the 360. The mediaplayer
    app is able to read ntfs formatted drives.

    If your drive is not being recognized by your computer please try to reformat it with the One. If still not working, please use the disk management console on your pc and have the drive repartitioned.

    Is the external drive not being recognized by your Xbox? PC? Its possible the external HDD may need to be replaced...

    Hey there DADDI05280,

    Have you made sure that the drive functions properly? I would connect it to a PC and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool to rule out faulty drive problems. Check if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. Here's a link to the tool:

    If everything is OK with the drive I'd contact MS's support and see what the guys can say about this. :)

    Hey there. I have the same brand, so I think it will work eventually. Try holding the Xbox logo on the console until it shuts down, unplug the power cord and the hard drive and leave it for 5 minutes. After that, plug the power in, but leave the drive unplugged
    and boot it up. Once it's fully booted, try plugging the drive in again
