Media Remote unable to change channels - Xfinity (XG1v4A) cable box, Xbox One X

The main problem I am having is that my Media Remote is unable to change channels. If I use the channel up/down button, nothing happens. If I type in a channel #, nothing happens. If I scroll thru the TV guide menu and select a channel, nothing happens.

I have narrowed it down to 1 possible origin of the issue. When I try to set up "device control" for the cable box, 1st I enter "Comcast" or "xfinity" as the cable box brand.

Next I click on "guide me" to set up and find the cable box model #. the next step is the XBOX tries to send a "CHANNEL UP" signal but it can never find the signal. I try over and over gain and it never works.

I manually type in the model number: XG1v4A

It seems to sync properly. it saves the cable box info. but the xbox media remote never works properly. I am still unable to controlling all of the live tv/cable box features: mainly changing channels which is probably the #1 feature of the remote that I
need.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

:)

HDMI Pass-through Question
To take full advantage the cable/ TV box will need to be HDMI CEC. This will give Xbox One the ability to change channels via the Xbox One TV guide.
If not CEC you will have to use TV box remote to change channels.
No, if not you will have to connect the infrared blaster to the set top box. This will allow your xbox to work as the remote control. I used to do the same thing with my media center. If you look on the back of the Xbox One you will see a port
labeled IR, that's how I know.

Antenna TV on Xbox One

It won't change channels, what Xbox one need is a universal control remote to access the cable or the converter box. Kinect works with my tv only.

Xbox One Chatpad collaboration

Along with the traditional chat pad attached to the controller, they can also make a new media remote with the chat pad either on the opposite side of the remote or flip lid with chat pad inside…that way when you are watching tv you don’t actually have to
use the x1 controller and waste your controller battery, either to surf channels, or send a message via live to your buddies. Also it would be easier to change the channels say from channel 1 to channel 111. Don’t think microsoft thought that over. Channel
up and down does not actually work when one has about 1000 channels on their cable box, and some people like myself (Channel Surfers) does not always want to yell at the x1 to change from channel to channel. It is very exhausting. Found myself relying on
my cable remote.

Media Remote and Xbox One
Is there anyway to get the Xbox 360 Media Remote to work with the Xbox One?
Unfortunately the Xbox 360 remote is not compatible with the Xbox One and at the moment the Microsoft are not planning to change this.
Still any possibility to a new Xbox One media remote that has numbers? The new one has no number pad, so i can't use it to change channels. Still any possibility to a new Xbox One media remote that has numbers? The new one has

Microsoft may redesign and release the Xbox One media remote similar to how they did with the Xbox 360 remote in the future but this is just speculation however I believe there are some 3rd party remotes that maybe have the use of a number pad to change
channel such as Logitech Harmony remote range. I believe the control is designed like this to possible make people use the Kinect features more.
