Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I'm afraid that there would be no stipulation to keep the account active even after death. If you would like to suggest a feature such as this you could try posting to Xbox Feedback however I'm not sure if anything would come of it.

I am an achievement hunter and yes I do agree that some achievements have become obsolete or inactive. But I have never really come across a broken achievement. Just for reference can you provide some examples.

if the account has not been accessed for a decade it may have been closed due to inactivity, after so many years of none use accounts are closed.
