May I get the # suffix added to my gamertag removed or a way to change my GT?

Shluld note two things

First and foremost

Your name has to be unique so adding numbers or a different spelling is rhe only choice

Spaces and different cas do NOT COUNT AS different to avoid the suffix

Searching for a name wont help especially if you are looking for some cool name most likely taken

As the system requires you to search with the EXACT context to find such a friend this is due to privacy issues

Since exact context is required

It is virtually impossible to find the exact context since it can be thousands to millions of different combinations

2.when choosing a name your name is searched for uniqueness

If someone has the name but not I. The exact context you get a suffix

The suffix is added because someone else already has the tag. The only way to have a tag without the suffix is to choose a tag that nobody else has. You would have to pay if you want to change it again.

So the only way I can remove the suffix is by paying for a gamertag change twice? Is there no way to not have to pay double to simply remove a suffix?

Thanks for coming to the forums. Unfortunately, there is no way of removing the suffix. They added the suffix so many people could have same gamer tag. Example if multiple people wanted John smith then the suffix gets added to tell people apart. When making
a gamer tag, it will show you what the gamer tag will look like. If it is a unique one that no one has it will not show the suffix. Please make sure you check these when going to change gamer tag. There are a few gamer tag checkers out there that are not correct.

Hi Brad, the gamertag I changed to and using now was unique. I did previously have it linked to my second microsoft account before I closed the account. I changed my gamertag on my main microsoft account to the gamertag I had on my second microsoft account
once that account was fully closed.

As my other microsoft account was closed, surely there wouldn't be a suffix generated next to the gamertag because that account no longer has the gamertag tied to it?
