Error 0x8B050033

I got a physical copy of the Marvel Avengers game for the XBox One. When i installed it and tried to play, the error popped up saying that the game needed to be updated, but the update wasn’t available.

Here’s what we’ve tried:

Uninstalling the game and all of its components and reinstalling.

Restarting our internet modem.

Hard resetting the console while keeping our other games and data.

NAT Type is open.

Cleared the alternate MAC address.

It doesn’t strike me as a system issue considering other numerous updates have been performed on other games.

I already tried following the other forums of the same issue, but the answers have been of no help. Are there any other options that we haven’t tried yet?

I tried this, however did not work.

After some trial I reset my Xbox (keeping game data), and after that I did the first solution.

Finally I can play!

I had exactly the same issue over the last few days, with this game on my XBox One S. I tried all sorts to fix it, including what you've already listed! I contacted the developers Square Enix who told me to try the following - which worked for me last night:

1) Install the game from disc again (if it is uninstalled) - you will get as far as the dreaded 0x8b050033 error.

2) Keep the physical disc in your machine for the following steps.

3) Go onto Microsoft Store and ensure the game is showing as installed on your XBox.

3) Uninstall the game.

4) Reinstall the game from Microsoft Store (NOT from disk).

This downloaded the game and the day one update.

I tried what it was recommended , however it says that i don’t have enought space, even after I delete several games !now I have 177gb free! It is impossible to consume more than that, specially considering that I have the disk

Hello Bruno and Happy New Year, there are some known problems installing games, try to follow the topic below to reinstall the game.

Players are seeing error 0x8b05003 while trying to play or install games from disc on Xbox Series X consoles.

This is being investigated by our engineering teams and a fix is on the way, but our support teams have found a workaround:

Uninstall the game on the console.

Open the Xbox app on phone or PC and sign in

Search for the game that cannot be installed

Press Download to console and select the destination console

Once the game has installed on that console, the disc can be inserted to play
