  1. Many failed attempts to recover my sons Hotmail account and get him back into his Xbox...

I've been in the same situation. It is amazing to me that because I didn't update the cell number attached to my son's Hotmail account he is no longer able to log in to his Microsoft account to play Xbox with his friends. I created the account for him when he was 2 and now he is 16. 14 years of accumulating achievement points buying games, skins, and add-ons are all gone because I'm not able to get the account recovery form to pass the security measures. I have even included the card and expiration date that he used to purchase games.

I have wasted so many hours of my life in order to help my son get back his Xbox account. It all started with entering an incorrect password too many times. What is even crazier is that on 9/18 I received the congratulations your account is verified. I clicked the reset password link and started changing the password on my iPhone (Big mistake). As I was re-entering the password on the 2nd text box I somehow swiped the current screen away. I tried to find it again but it was gone. I tried once more from that same reset link but this time it said that I would need a new verification code and that all the others have been invalidated.

Fast forward another week to 9/25 and again received the Congratulations email that I verified my account. The reset link I clicked said the same thing that all other codes were invalidated and I needed a new one. One month in and let's say a ton of hours spent trying to figure this out with no luck.

Why can't Microsoft have a backup method for those users who cannot get past the automation method of verifying we are who we say we are? We did nothing wrong and spent a lot of money purchasing Microsoft products. I have seen many organizations use ID verification where you can upload your ID or license and then follow it up with a picture of yourself in real time. Anything other than the current system because I cannot even speak to a live person. Can we send this issue up the ladder for a manager or higher-up to take a look?

Microsoft is a rich company that has chosen to ignore its customers with cheap automation. How about you change the code up so that you can be taken to a live agent if the Account recovery form is close to being correct? Maybe there is another issue going on here where a tech needs to step in. One of the "live chat" agents told me this has been a problem with verification codes but Microsoft hasn't publicly released anything about this.

I understand I probably look like a big complainer but in reality, I'm just trying to help my son recover his account where he and his friends play games, chat, and watch videos. Am I the only one going through this? I'm 42 years old and have been locked out of accounts before but never have I not been able to get back in. Security is important but what good is it if we completely lose everything built up in our accounts? Thanks for listening and I will keep my fingers crossed. SMH

    :)

Many failed attempts to recover my sons Hotmail account and get him back into his Xbox account that I set-up for him almost 14 years ago.

    Account Login Blocked

My son is only 7 I am managing this all for him. So it pretty cut and dry, displayed that message first login attempt. Also, if I go to that link for pass reset you provided it quotes an email of his microsoft username "itsMiles" with @hotmail on the end of it. that has never existed. When I signed up for his microsoft account for his minecraft usage, I used his gmail account which I also manage. So unless the microsoft account generated a hotmail account on its own for some random reason the only email ever used with his microsoft account is his gmail. Same way I use my microsoft. No hotmail our outlook email or any of that.

    I need help been hacked

but my son has had this account for 5 years and spent a lot of money on his xbox so is there any way I can get the account back
create a new outlook account just for contacting Microsoft/Xbox Support

this is just for them to be able to contact you, not a replacement for your sons account.

you need a fresh account as a security measure so that whoever has taken control of the account cant block your attempts to recover it.

    Security proof problem.

His windows account is the hotmail account. Which means that he doesn't remember it. He doesn't know the password, secret question, or anything about the account. He can't recover it because he doesn't know anything about it, he didn't care for it. His G
mail isn't used for any xbox account. Therefore, he can't sign on to it unless the over protective people give him his account info. His Gamertag is Fearless x757. He had the account for a year, and the account email he made for it was hotmail, and he doesn't
use hotmail. It asked him to make a hotmail or live account, he couldn't use his gmail. So, please, tell me something I don't know.

Move gamer tag to child account

I need a similar solution. I set up the Xbox account for my son's Xbox years ago & would like to transfer everything gaming related to an account for him.

Occasionally, he has trouble logging in when going to a relatives house & I have to tell him my password - it's frustrating. I've had a hotmail account for over 15 years and have many important things tied to this email address & login.
