    Many different apps to chat with different features


    Hey!

    At the moment there are 4 different ways to chatting (maybe I'm missing something):

    • Xbox iteself
    • Xbox Companion App on PC/iOS/Android
    • Xbox Beta App (PC)
    • Game Bar (PC)

    Xbox can send voice messages, but none of the other versions can play them. The companion app(s) can now send pictures, which is great and works alright - but Xbox can't display them. The Xbox Beta App can send Gifs and screenshots/clips saved on Live, but none of the other can. The Game Bar chat doesn't have any of those features apart from chatting (though can receive pictures).

    I haven't tested all interactions and and combinations yet, but it's still pretty clear that it's not a unified experience and for people who only want to play anyway might be very confusing if they are only just getting into the Xbox Live "eco system" and even for me it just seems very messy, which is a bummer because I think Game Bar and Xbox Beta App on PC look beautifully designed!

    Another confusing differentiation in features is the "voice chat" feature (discussed here), which is different from party chat, but the difference is so minor (e.g. you can't invite other people, at least on Xbox) that I wonder why it is even separate at all as - again - it makes the different versions look messy and confusing.

    Is this just a matter of having to be patient and eventually it'll be at a point where all of them can do everything? Are there just completely different teams working on each of them which leads to this? Is there maybe a blog post on this that I might have missed?

    It shouldn't do that, many people use the live chat feature daily. Have you tried to use it on a different internet browser at all?

    PARTY CHAT Friends Playing DIFFERENT GAMES ? NOW CANT JOIN Ranked matches ? What going ON !!!!

    the 360 party chat was the main feature that leant me towards Xbox Live as opposed to the PSN where you had to play the same game as the one person you were allowed to chat to. I agree the One party chat needs sorting out. I talk to many different friends
    at once who are always playing different games so this is a bit of a let down. If it isn't broken Microsoft, don't fix it!

    Could you use the in game chat feature, would that make a difference?

    Or are you talking to people in different lobbies or that are playing different games?]

    I know it's not an answer, but more of a possible work around.

    Xbox live free trial not working

    The only difference between Xbox live and PSN-

    Xbox Live has to be payed in order to access all of its features, online features and third party apps.

    PSN is free but also has a payed service which is completely Optional, you can still access all of its features and its online features without a Plus account except for a few certain multiplayer games on the PS4 in which will require PSN+

    The multiplayer online is the same on both companies consoles 360 - PS3, XBONE - PS4.

    The only difference there is no party chat for PS3.

    The upload feature seems to be missing from the guide as well.

    If it has removed or in a different feature of the app, news would be helpful.
