    I start off by saying, please do not try to reproduce this, as it may BREAK your Xbox Series S/X Console.

    Here is a summary of what happened:

    I'm currently signed up for the xbox update preview in the alpha ring. I wanted to try developer mode on my Series S. I downloaded the developer activation app and followed all the steps but i just ran into one problem. The "Almost There" step prompts you to download an xbox update before it is ready to use. I did not get this update, so i looked on the microsoft forum. This said to use the secret developer menu (accessible through the settings app and going to console info and pressing button combination LB RB LT RT) I checked the button enable developer mode and my console rebooted. To my surprise i come into a system error menu with error code E208 00000003 00000005. After that the xbox logo starts rapidly flashing, in to what seems the troubleshoot menu crashing. This happens every time and means u can NOT perform an OSU or reset of your xbox. I tried unplugging the power and this also didn't help. I did manage to quickly go to the reset menu in the 1 second that i had and select a reset. This worked, but also not. Now every time i boot up my console it prepares the console for reset, and it comes to about 4/5% before eventually getting back into the system error screen and freezing, and turning off.

    My current console software is the following:

    how do vulkan games like doom eternal run on xbox

    Pretty sure they're not using Vulkan on Xbox.

    How they run depends on what console you're using. On Series X they're excellent, and Doom Eternal even has raytraced reflections on the Series X hardware. The RT can drop the FPS to just below 60 occasionally, but it's largely flawless.

    On the now older Xbox One S their resolution is limited to around 900P, but they run much smoother and in higher res on the One X and Series X.

    If you've got a Series X, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein II The New Colossus and Wolfenstein Youngblood play really well. No major performance issues. Digital Foundry on YouTube have conducted extensive tests on these games. I would check them out.

    This issue is present on the series x aswell so it’s not a series s issue. I’m sure it to do with the fact that the developers focus more on the PlayStation version than on the Xbox

    I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your Series X console.

    Because your TV and HDMI cable work perfectly with your Series S, I'd say it's very likely this is a hardware-related problem with your Series X.

    ---

    • Is your Series X plugged into an HDMI hub/splitter?

    • To clarify, are there any video settings, either on your TV or the console itself, that are not enabled when you use the Series S?

    - On your console I'd suggest checking Settings > General > TV & display options > Video modes. As other settings normally

    - On your TV, check for "Special viewing modes" "Picture mode" or something similar.

    If everything's the same as when you use your Series S, I'm afraid my best advice would be to use your console's warranty.
