Mahjong suddely freezes on start

    Mahjong suddely freezes on start


    Since yesterday evening (GMT+1, that would be morning March 6th Seattle time...) Mahjong freezes immediately on start. No problems before that, was able to play yesterday afternoon as usual.

    When it freezes it does not even display the colourful welcome graphics, nor does it present the log-on display in the upper right corner. It only displays the very first green screen.

    I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro on a PC, display 2560x1440. Updates are processed automatically by windows Store. Manually checking for an update didn't show any pending update. I am also running ModernMix, to which all apps comply -- that includes Mahjong until
    yesterday's breakdown. As per the freeze, it does not even function under ModernMix close button option (a first for any app...), nor does it show the other ModernMix boxes. Only the standard Metro interface "close down" works. When trying to access Mahjong
    settings it froze too under 'devices', even requiring me to restart explorer (the instance that services the desktop interface).

    What changed yesterday?

    Microsoft Solitaire Collection

    Have been playing the challenges in Solitaire and Mahjong without much of a problem (occasional freeze ups), but now I can get the beginning game choices sometimes, the commercial, then when I try to play the game it switches back to the Start screen as
    though I had just turned on the PC. What to do?

    I just bought MS Mahjong from the Microsoft Store

    I just bought MS Mahjong from the Microsoft Store for $9.99/year. Where is it?

    When I click on the Mahjong tile on my Start menu - same one that was there before I paid the $9.00, I'm taken into this Xbox application.

    How do I access the MS Mahjong I just paid for?

    This is frustrating & annoying.

    As of today (PC had been off and now restarted) the same happens to Minesweeper.

    What changed the day before yesterday at Mahjong and somewhere in the last, say, 10 to 12 hours at Minesweeper?

    Well, half an hour ago (see timestamp of posting) I suddenly was able to start Mahjong again. Four days of daily challenges to catch up with. Seemed it needed a fraction more time to start --probably downloading something which was altered in such a way
    it didn't freeze anymore. Whatever has been changed, thanks.

    Last Update has Ruined The Game

    I quite agree with you. Jigsaw is the only game that freezes. No problem with Sudoku or Mahjong. Also jigsaw takes a long time to load!

    I am unable to unlock any Minesweeper achievements! please help.

    Thank you very much for your response! That sounds reasonable. going to update to 8.1 and try it out! <3 :)

    I started to have even more problems now (minesweeper and mahjong daily challenges do not load, taptiles crashes and freezes etc.) So I hope the 8.1 will help with those too :)
