My friend and I are unable to join the same game in GTA 5 on our series x. The game keeps saying that it has timed out. We have restarted, reinstalled, and checked the internet. Other games work and we can join separate lobbies, but never be together. What do we do?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

The issue can be with the game itself since other games are working just fine. No worries, I'll be guiding you still. Please perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

" 1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state."

Also, if you can try joining other friends just to isolate the issue further that would be great.

Well here's my "First off" I'm happily married and this is "X BOX NOT SEX BOX" LOL . I play online to have a few laughs with my friends and try not to take things too seriously. I also play GTA 5 as well as BO2. Send me a friend request if you want. In
GTA 5 you could join our crew(more RP points in missions if all players are in the same crew).

So if I'm playing on an xbox series x and my friends on a xbox series s I can not play gta 5 online with them

It's important to know which game your friend bought.

I say this because there are currently three versions of the Series X/S game. Gta 5 Online, Gta 5 Series X/S and Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S).

If he has purchased Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S), which gives access to the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, he can play online with you as long as he downloads the Xbox One version, so you and he will have the same save and can play online.

If he is a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber he can download the game in the Xbox One version and play with you.
