lost when it comes to the video game world...HELP!!

i have a son who is 6 years old. a little too young for video games you might think?-- not hardly. he is AMAZINGLY gifted in the gaming world (especially with Minecraft)... He recently saw a video of Skate3 and has been bugging the crap out of me for it
ever since. in the past i've bought him games thinking they looked fairly easy for him to catch onto and then proven wrong shortly after the purchase. I'm lost on video games that are any newer than Nintendo's Super Mario 3 so I have no clue how to judge
the looks of difficulty pf it... any input?

MINECRAFT CITY HELP

Skate 3 might be a little difficult for a 6 year in my opinion. Maybe you could rent it and let him have a go.

My son started playing video games like Marion etc at 4 on his DS. He then got majorly addicted to Angry Birds on and device he could play them on.

He is now 7 and he is addicted to Minecraft on the PS3. He is really good at it. I let him play Rayman Legends and he was good on the first world, but after that the difficulty gets cranked up and he wasn't so good and he lost interest. He sticks to Minecraft
and certain WiiU games like Mario and Sonic. As good as he is at those, I don't think he would be any good at Skate 3.

Sorry to spew about my kid, but I love that fact that he is a gamer, because I was at the age of 4 as well in 1979.

We;re allowed to spew on em all we want-- we made em right?!? lol Thanx for your input, he tried the demo and seemed to like it but I can already see where you're coming from with the "difficulty gets cranked up after the first world."

I'm thinking i'm prolly better off tryin to bribe his attention to something-- hopefully save him (and me) a meltdown later.

I must say i'm a little ashamed of myself for not knowing at least a little bit more about the game universe-- especially with my Monkey's fascination for playing. The fact that my ex-husband pretty much an affair with his PS3 and eventually left me for
his Xbox may have taken more toll on my brain than i've since then thought. thank you.

You can't go wrong with stuff like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs two player, all of the toon games like Shrek, Cars, Toy Story, Happy Feet, Disneyland Adventures etc. Lego games too. The Lego games are all on sale on 360 and Xbox One right now.

Xbox Arcade has a relative horde of games that're decent for kids. The great thing about these consoles is you can download trials to games you think might be alright and try the games out for yourself before you buy them online or at retail.

Minecraft is head and shoulders above most games because it's such a great and simple creative tool. The digital equivalent of a blank piece of paper and some crayons. Or... Lego... which is weird, given the way Lego games play. Heh.

The PEGI ratings on games are usually decent enough as a guide. And you can check out:

... search for any game and get a ballpark rating on them. Skate3 has a rating of 13 over there.

Look up the game play videos on You Tube and Twitch. Also hit some of the game magazine sites for reviews and articles.

Skate 3 should be really cheap used these days, so I'd do that instead of renting it. I imagine it'd be a bit tough for a 6 year old to play, but with practice, I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually. It is a really good game though.
