    Lost optical 5.1 audio on my Xbox one


    I have my console connected to my TV using HDMI but also connected to my Yamaha receiver using an optical cable.

    It used to work OK for years! (HDMI audio off, optical audio ON, in DTS mode)

    Since a few days it stopped working Lost optical 5.1 audio on my Xbox one :( I double checked all the troubleshooting steps, changed the cables reset the configuration of the receiver and the Xbox (went to factory settings on both). Tested the receiver and cable with my PS4 (worked perfectly)

    There's no way can can get the Xbox one work again using my optical output. I also asked for support (ref number 1431661840)

    If anyone can help me it will be appreciated, since I'm now using the HDMI stereo output and listening to my Xbox only in my TV Lost optical 5.1 audio on my Xbox one :(

    360E + Tritton Pro+ Headset QUESTION

    So i picked up the 360E. We all know the console is lacking the optical port , So since my TV has optical I decided to pick up the tritton pro+ headset for use with BF4 .

    I believe the TV only outputs stereo. I know the xbox outputs 5.1 So how do I get 5.1 to my headset? will a HDMI to OPTICAL AUDIO converter work for 5.1?

    Will the will xbox audio be sent through my tv @ 5.1 and enter the decoder as 5.1?

    How do I get 5.1 from the xbox 360E??

    any help would be VERY AWESOME

    I have the same question. I use my Xbox One to watch Blu-rays, but I want the best audio experience on my VIZIO S4251w-B4 5.1 Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Satellite Speakers. Which optical audio settings are Xbox One audio settings are best to
    watch a Blu ray like Inception?

    Stereo signal in a 5.1 stream

    Hi Darkstar,

    The Xbox is working 100% as it should be. If the Xbox source signal is 5.1 i.e a game, then the audio stream to the receiver is 5.1 and the receiver will output 5.1 audio to the speakers. However if the Xbox audio source signal is 2.0 i.e music, then the
    stream to the receiver is 2.0 and the receiver will not magically output 5.1 audio to the speakers.

    This situation will happen for HDMI or optical using DTS or Dolby decoding etc. The Xbox will not simulate 2.0 up to 5.1. You will need to use one of the surround effects (simulation) on your receiver to scale the 2.0 audio to 5.1 audio. Sorry its not what
    you want to hear, but this is how it works :)

    First, try going to Settings > Display and Sound > In the middle, change the "HDMI Audio" setting to '5.1 uncompressed'.

    If you still can't get 5.1 audio to your sound system, try buying an optical audio cable and plug that from the back of your xbox one into your sound system and change the settings on your sound system to use the 'Optical In' or a setting that chooses that
    input. Don't forget to change the settings like the one above, but under "Optical Audio" choose "Bitstream Out" and change "Bitstream Format" to "DTS Digital Surround." The optical audio port is right between the HDMI in and out ports.

    Xbox One unable to detect that my receiver supports DD5.1, DD7.1 or DTS

    when i set the xbox to uncompressed 5.1 audio, my receiver shows the audio as LPCM, is this right? Are they patching dolby for HDMI as well as optical then? any help or info would be appreciated.

    Upgraded to Xbox One S now surround sound no longer works (0x80bd0009)

    I found a workaround for anyone that can use this setup.

    I have my Xbox One S setup with HDMI out to the TV and an optical cable out to my Turtle Beach X41 Wireless Transmitter. I then used the optical out on that to go to my Sony Receiver and now Dolby Digital 5.1 is working.

    I set optical audio to Bistream out, HDMI audio to off and Bitsream Format to Dolby Digital.
