Lost Connection to Host/Server in every game: Modern Warfare, XBOX One

Hi all,

In the last few days I have been unable to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Every single game freezes at some point during the play and fails with a Error: Lost Connection to Host/Server message.

I've tried rebooting the console, changing the DNS to one of the many alternatives like Cloudflare, Google, open DNS and whatnot, with no improvement. As one can imagine this is extremely frustrating and I don't even know where to begin or solve. Some of the threads I see are old, often have no resolution, or the ones specified are for a PC or to change DNS which isn't helping.

PS - I have a wired Ethernet connection, and IPv6 is enabled. NAT is open. Router is a Orbi with satellite. No issues with download speeds - I get 400 mbps+.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi Michael,

I have no idea what causes it, and the various threads on the net haven't been helpful. But here's what I do that makes the problem go away for a few days.

- Power off the cable modem

- power off the router

- hold the XBOX power button for 10s+ (reset) and then remove power

- wait a minute or so

- reconnect modem

- reconnect router

- restart XBOX

and it all works fine.

You can also try changing the DNS on the router - I finally did it, and I think the frequency of the repeat has reduced. Maybe start with the router DNS change to one of the public DNS's (Cloudflare, Google) and then if it doesn't help, do the rest.

I've tried those that apply, My wired connection gives me 400mbps speeds, I tried with wireless, I've changed DNS', the router is at home with an open NAT.

Are there any other ideas.

There are Two Xbox ones on my network and only one can access Xbox live servers for Modern Warfare at once. One will get on just fine then the other one will keep failing to connect to Xbox live servers until the other console gets off. What can
be done for this?

Do you 2 copies of Modern Warfare and a separate gold account for each console?

We have two Xbox's and we play fine online and with Modern Warfare.
