Screen capture is different from video recording

With screen capture you don't need fps

In game capture even 1 lost frame can be 10-30secs if lost video or audio this requires encoding by your gpu

If your screen capture is so good try yours and see what happens it's not the same as game capture like gamebar

But its not like it's deleting the oldest ones when I take new ones.
Circa 15 days ago, my entire collection of captures I had saved on my internal was wiped.
So 15-20 days ago, something happened to wipe my slate clean.
Be it that I hit that hidden storage cap, which caused the xbox to delete it all to start fresh....
Or some update rolled through to mess with it.

Its not exactly bloke that but at one point depending on how many clips you take will happen that the older ones will get erased to have space for new ones, you can use a flash drive to save your clips

Yes, but one would expect a prompt to come up.
Something like :
"Your save location for captures is low on space" when it gets below 100mb or something.

then

"Your save location for captures is full" when its full, not letting me take more, with a button to take me to manage my captures.

It's the stealth mass-delete that's frustrating....but either way, what's done is done.

It sounds like this happened to a friend of mine last month too, so it's not just me.

I assume none of this is recoverable, but I appreciate your insight on what might have happened.
I am pretty disappointed in how short-sighted xbox is on this sort of thing happening, there's no safe guards to protect these irreplaceable moments from being sneakily wiped away.

So using the internal hard drive for captures is a ticking time bomb at this point.

It works for a while, but eventually it'll just blow and delete them all with no means to know when.

If I understand this right, at least.

Suppose I'll have to start backing my files up on a monthly basis, or buy a 2nd external hard drive for captures.

Frustrating.
