    Losing audio on Xbox series X


    So it started when I dropped my controller a few days ago onto a hardwood floor (about a 10-12" drop from where it was) since then the audio has been crackly particularly when I do certain actions (such as double jump in Destiny 2)

    I've tried the following in the following order:

    •Replaced the wired Controller

    •Replaced the wired Headset

    •Cleared Alternate Mac Addresses

    •Reset Xbox and keep games/apps

    •Changed Headset audio from Windows Sonic to Stereo Uncompressed

    •Changed which USB the controller was plugged in to (from the front one to one on the back)

    The audio is no longer as "crackly" (particularly less so when set to Stereo Uncompressed) but I'm still losing the audio as a whole.

    I can't change any of the NAT settings because they've been very meticulously set up in this household, the only alternative I can think of is to replace the Xbox Series X entirely.

    Please help.

    Update: Wireless controller had no audio issues.

    Addition: Now audio issues have mysteriously vanished while using Wired controller, will restart Xbox to test something.

    Update: Audio Issues did not return after restart, will do a power cycle to test further.

    Tried that, this is a brand new controller anda brand new headset.

    I've yet to try a Wireless Controller but if that doesn't work then my only option is to either get the xbox serviced which would take too long or get it replaced which would be expensive.

    Hello Good, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your audio.

    I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this with Destiny 2, especially when things get busy, and I'm using wireless. Xbox is aware of audio issues though and ask that you report them as you encounter them.

    If you don't already have it downloaded please install the Xbox Insider Hub. From there you can read how to file a report for the audio issue.

    Beyond that what I can suggest is to try a different controller if possible to see if the issue persists.

    Conclusion: Audio Issues are... gone?

    Unsure what fixed it other than swapping to Stereo Uncompressed + Wireless Controller then switching back to the wired controller...
