Not all co-op games are Team based just because have co-op. If you know how to play the game with partners you don't need a mic . Mics fan gamers exaggerate this issue.

Some people have enough skill and awareness to play co-op without a mic. I've seen it in most of the games I've played (L4D to ME3). Of course you will always have the bad ones tho. If your looking for people to play BL2 with I'd suggest checking the BL2
forums. There's quite a few threads of people looking for co-op partners.
