Looking for a good RPG

I am old-school RPG aficionado looking for a new RPG to scratch that itch. I started with Ultima Online waaaay back in the day and recently was a long time WoW player until my computer got old and out of date. I don't have a ton of time to play, so I want
to keep it to a single game (as opposed to trying three or four). I enjoy looking for that new equipment upgrade, grinding for that new skill, hitting all the quest-givers, etc. I've looked at Diablo III, Witcher 3 and Divinity: Original Sin and all look pretty
cool.

Who's got an opinion on the best RPG for the Xbox One?

Borderlands is an RPG, the game promoted itself as a mix between FPS and RPGs. You do everything you normally do in a game like Skyrim/Oblivion, you quest, you level up, learn new skills and abilities, upgrade weapons and have 4 different (somewhat) classes
to play.

Now how is that any different from Skyrim/Oblivion? you do the exact same thing, except in Skyrim/Oblivion its in a fantasy setting, you still quest, level up, learn new skills and abilities and upgrade weapons and armor with different classes and races.

The only difference between the two is the setting and how it plays, instead of focusing on melee and spell casting Borderlands focuses on conventional shooting mechanics made popular by other games in the FPS genre.

You can debate the story in Borderlands is pretty minimal as your involvement, but the same can be said about Skyrim/Oblivion, there is a story and you choose how much you want to spend or pay attention to it.

Witcher 3 & Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition are 2 awesome games that will definitely scratch that RPG itch.

Not played Divinity OS so can't comment on that.

Dragon Age Inquisition is well worth a look as well.

There are 2 games that fit what you are looking for on the XBox ONE.

The first is "Wasteland" but you should overlook this in favour of the 2nd which is (and you've already mentioned it) "Divinity: Original Sin".

"The Witcher 3" is a great action and adventure story dressed as an RPG. You'll get tons of gameplay out of it but you'll only ever play one role in it... that of Geralt the Witcher.

"Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition" is arguably the best game on the XBox ONE hands down. It gives you multiple characters to play through with, re-jigs the level design as you replay through and also has been steadily adding extra content and updates.
Again it is dressed in RPG garb but at it's core "Diablo III" is a top down shooter.

If you want to pick your character, pick your class, specialise in a discipline or role or completely customise your own class then "Divinity: Original Sin" is the game you want to play. It IS an old school RPG and a great one at that.

That being said you're going to be a happy camper whether you play 1, 2 or all 3.

If you're looking for strictly a single player RPG, you can't go wrong with either Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition or Fallout 4.

to bring online passes in to this discussion. It's just a code comes with every new copy of a game. Why should you not have to pay for gold just because you input a code that cost you no extra money?

you honestly think it's just a coincidence that no MMO's have come to the 360 since 2006? Do you think none have been developed? Microsoft will not allow MMO's on their console because their rights are limited. And they aren't having that.

I know someone had mentioned Fallout: New Vegas, and i'd just advise to hold off on that one for a month, as the "Ultimate Edition" will then be released with all the dlc for the game. Just an fyi.
