    Locked out of Microsoft account for suspicious activity that took place out of my country


    Our Microsoft account has been locked for a few days. The phone number we had on the account to receive a verification code is an old number unfortunately. We have tried to fill out the account recovery form four times now. You can fill it out two times within 24 hours, then you need to wait again. On the recovery forms we have put correct name, birthday, last four of credit card and expiration date as well as Xbox device ID. The information is correct as our Xbox live subscription came out yesterday! Using that credit card. Microsoft has charged us yet we cannot get into our account to access the product we bought as well as games including Minecraft where my son has extensive builds and uses it for school as well. We tried the contact us button but it says to log in. Well, obviously we can't, that is the whole problem. I logged into my other account and did an online chat where I was given tips to fill out the account recovery form again but it is still locked for 24 hours. I also finally got a call back using the contact us button but had to pick family security. They will not call you over and account problem or even subscription or billing. I was not able to change my subscription because I cannot log in. The person who called said the account recovery people do not take any calls and you just have to keep trying the online form. We asked if they were robots or people and he said they were people. Every time I fill out the form it says it can take 24 hours for Microsoft to review it, however after every time I get an immediate email saying the automated system did not recognize the information and the account is still locked. Now we are going to try to access the form from edge on our old Xbox, thankfully we kept it. We will try in 24 hours to fill the form out there. Also we have used several credit cards for purchases, some of which are no longer in use. One tip was to just put the four basics on the form. Name, birthday, old password and email. I'll try that. Pretty sad they can charge you and keep charging you without being able to stop the subscription or access years of Minecraft world builds, or any of the games we paid for. Keep your account phone number updated!!

    Update, I plugged in our old Xbox, tried to get Microsoft edge from there to fill out the account recovery form once again. Well, I did not have a way to log in to use edge! I ended up on our newer Xbox using edge through a different name we had on this one. That's just Internet access, using it from the Xbox to help verification, it was very hard to type to all and I did it twice. First I used the basic information. With our old zip code. The tips Microsoft sent me said use the old information and try just the basics of email, birthday, old password. Welp, denied. Second I tried putting in our gamer tag as well as the OLD Xbox device ID which I'm just glad we hung onto. We got a new Xbox in January so it's been 10 months. We just updated our credit card too and Microsoft did take money out yesterday for Xbox live subscription but we cannot access it. This company is really awful. I can't even believe you cannot talk to a human to unlock your account when it was not even your fault it got locked to begin with. I should be able to put in our current credit card they just debited from yesterday to verify my account. So.. I have a list of 4 more ways I will try it , two on Saturday and two on Sunday. I feel bad for my son. Playing Minecraft for 6 years, so many worlds and builds that are all under this account. He cannot click on his gamertag to play without logging into Microsoft which is locked. Poor kids who go through this on their own and I'm sure parents will get frustrated and give up. I've tried the form six times now!

    I tried two times a day for the weekend and today. I got onto our old Xbox and tried our old state and zip code as well as old Xbox ID. We only had one gamertag so that is right although we did change the name years back. I tried two credit cards we used for Xbox live subscription including the last one and current one. These are all we have the info for. I tried the new Xbox ID as well. I also tried our current state and zip code. So I guess I have tried everything. My husband will call his phone carrier to see if he can possibly get his old phone number back and we can receive the text verification. He will need to somehow call Microsoft and ask them to quit charging us for the subscription since we cannot access that account, when you go to the contact us about subscriptions it says to log in to the account with the subscription. It is crazy that there is no phone number and in order to sign up for a call back you have to lie on the contact reason and say family security or something. If you choose billing or account it says it doesn't qualify for a call back. And I will need to ask from my other account. It is worth it to us to do whatever it takes to get our son's Minecraft account back. We even had a survival world years in the making.
