    I have a hotmail account that has been in use since the mid 90's. This is tied into a 13 year old xbox account with an untold amount of purchased content.

    I had an issue a few months back that caused me to reset my password. There was a problem after the initial saving that caused a 2nd reset, where everything was until yesterday.

    I attempted to access that hotmail account and was told that the password was incorrect. Thinking that maybe my password keeper messed something up (or, even just human error), I followed password recovery prompts and went through 2 layers of 2FA (first alternate email, then phone) and reset the password. This was saved on the spot.

    Once saved, I was directed to login again.... which I did... and was given an incorrect password error. So, I tried again... and again... same result. I tried to AGAIN reset my password and was given an error that says I've been trying it too much and could no longer reset (even with all the layers of 2FA). I spent quite some time looking online for people to contact... nothing. All support numbers direct back to the web where I'm told that support can't help me and that I need to follow the same process that I already have.

    I did, at one point, come across the recovery form. I filled it out, was rejected... filled it out again and received almost an immediate reply letting me that know I could not use the form because there is 2FA on the account and to AGAIN go through the same process that is running me in circles.

    At this point, I almost don't care about losing a the near 30 year old account, but DO care that there is a decent size monetary value and accumulated contacts that I am totally locked out of!

    I'm desperate and need help... please.

    Note: Xbox runs through the exact same process above. There are seemingly literally no avenues to fix this Locked out of Hotmail and, as a result, out of xbox. All recovery options lead to dead ends :(

    Hello Hotrdo,

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you are having issues with your account. Usually you only need to sign in on the
    account website. Then it will ask you to verify the account then it normally is unlocked after that.

    It doesnt give me an option for that. i can copy/paste the message it gives me.

    I have earlier i did everything required for one of my accounts yet when reset the password it said it changed it but when i tried to sign in it told me that i needed to enter the password and if not reset so it looped
    around and i tried again but nothing worked so im wondering if ill never be able to log in at all.

    That's understandable. I was hoping to speak to a real person to explain the situation. I know the mobile number which was attached to the account, the old passwords, accounts I've used that email address for and most other things they would need to prove
    that I'm the owner of the account.

    A real person would hopefully be more sympathetic than a robot in this scenario. There's surely something I can do to prove I'm the owner?
