Locked out… Can’t cancel account… Please help!

It seems that you're having trouble accessing your Microsoft account and cancelling your subscription. I understand how frustrating this can be. Let us help you by providing information on how to deal with this concern and point you to the right path to get possible solution to your concern.



Before we proceed any further, I would like to set your proper expectations that Microsoft accounts are fully managed and handled by an automated server and we don't have manual access to it because Microsoft really takes our security and privacy very seriously. This means that our support agents and advocates can't do more than what you can do for yourself with the account recovery form. The questions are intended to verify ownership of the account. We do not have the ability to send password reset links or provide other ways to access or change account details.

As per description, that your account was locked. If we may ask, have you tried unlocking your Microsoft account? If not yet, follow the steps here: Account has been locked - Microsoft Support

By the way, to stop the charges from the subscription, we need to cancel first your subscription. I understand that this might not allow if the owner does not have access to the account, the best thing to do to stop the charges is by contacting your bank to block the charges coming from Microsoft or you may request a new card.

If you are able to regain access to your account, you can cancel your subscription by going to the Services & subscriptions page and selecting the subscription you want to cancel. From there, you can follow the prompts to cancel the subscription.

Canceling the Gold does not lock you out of the account. Forgetting your password and security info can lock you out, but canceling Gold just turns it back into a Free Account.

Hello Josh, what you read regarding the procedure of the two-step verification is correct, when it is active it will not work.

What you should try is, contact Xbox Customer Service and ask for an Account Takeover, (ATO) and you'll do the entire information procedure with someone from Microsoft Support.

Hey Kyle I didn't ask MICROSOFT to do anything I was just logging on and and MICROSOFT DECIDED TO LOCK MY ACCOUNT... Is it because they have an algorithm to check for dead email accounts AND then SCAM the users out of money..... THIS IS FRAUD.. I have proved I own the games. AND this automated online password recovery process is nonsense. AS I HAVE SAID I KNOW MY PASSWORDS. So I an now left out of pocket and FEEL ROBBED because MICROSOFT Decided they want me to change my password.

I WOULD HAVE LOST LESS IF I HAD BEEN HACKED....SCAMMED BY MICROSOFT

I know I'm months late to this, but did you ever manage to regain access to your account?? I just hit the exact same problem yesterday, and it is terrible. I hope you were able to regain access.

If you were/are could you relay what you had to do to me so I can also navigate out of this predicament?
