Locked download speed Xbox One Games downloads

Hi all,

I have an Xbox One S and I have been getting very slow download speeds.

Currently downloading FIFA 21 and the download speed is fluctuating between 1003Kbps and 1.47 Mbps

Also happens with FIFA 20 and any other game I start to download.

When downloading anything from my PS4, my Windows PC or my Mac I get around 3.3MB/s.

Going on speedtest.net I get about 40Mbps on either machine.

I ran a speedtest.net on the Xbox One via Edge, also comes back as 40Mb/s

What I’ve done so far:

Changed DNS to google and a few other servers.

Changed ethernet Cable (it’s connected directly to the router).

I enabled DMZ for the Xbox One which is set on a static IP address.

I’ve temporarily disabled the Firewall on my router

My Nat OPEN is open when I do a connection test on the Xbox.

I have restarted the router multiple times.

I have restarted the Xbox One multiple times.

I have closed all games on the Xbox while downloading.

A test network connection: everything is good

Changed network cable with my PS4.

All of those steps have not changed the behaviour. It keeps on switching every two seconds between 1.47 Mbps and 1003 Kbps.

ISP: Eir Ireland

Router: F2000 (Huawei iirc)

Any thoughts?

It seems that the download speed is locked on the Xbox's.

Regardless of what my internet speed is the download speed never changes.

Hi,

Perhaps it would be benificial if you would actually read all the troubleshooting steps I have provided.

You will them be able to see that all the steps that are documented in the mentioned article, have already been performed.

That would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you are having slow speeds while downloading. We recommend trying the guide for slow
game or app installation. Even with a ethernet connection, speeds can vary some. Please let us know how it goes.

This is a common thing.

Regardless of my internet speed it seems the download speed on the Xbox is locked.

The game updates are issued from the developer. Such as day one patches and etc.

They require these. Download speed does seemed to be locked at a certain pace though regardless of internet.

Older model Xbox One's obviously suffering from this more then the S and X.
