Locked Account Without a Phone Number

I’m currently using a friends account to post this.

I just made a new xbox account as it’s been my first in years. I created everything through the xbox. I ended up downloading the Smartglass app and connecting my account onto it but this resulted in security freaking out and locking me out. I don’t have
a phone so I can’t get a call or text for the code to sign back in. I’ve also tried to submit a form from the recovery website but it asked me to reset my password. I did but nothing happened. I don’t have two factor on or anything and I have almost the bare
minimum security stuff. I was going to change that but I can’t. I also just bought a years worth of gold and I’m not fond of loosing that all ready. If anyone has any ideas that would be awesome.

I would definitely do that but unfortunately with all the social distancing stuff going around, I can’t use a friends phone. That and my parents aren’t the greatest people in the world too.

It’s not the password I’m having issues with. I’m having issues with my account getting locked fro security purposes. It wants me to put in a phone number to get a recovery code from the text or voice message. However, I don’t have a phone like, at all.
I’ve also already tried to reset my password, which did change but I’m still security locked.

I would use this link to assist in recovering your Xbox account.

It has detailed steps on whatever device/system you’re trying to recover your account on.

I would also recommend that you create a 2nd/backup email if you don’t have regular access to your own personal mobile phone.

Borrow a phone from a friend or a relative, that would be the easiest way

My advice would be, if you have a phone, use that number as it is allowed...all it needs is to be able to receive a code via text message:

"You can use any phone number that can receive text messages; it doesn’t need to be associated with your account."

"This means you could use a friend or work colleague's phone without compromising your account security."
