1. Live TV with an HDHomerun Prime (cablecard)

I am currently using the HDHomerun app on the Xbox One. Works OK, but I was wondering if there are any plans for Microsoft to allow the native Live TV app to connect to the HDHomerun's tuners (instead of limiting it to usb tuners)?

I was able to configure the OneGuide to pull guide data from my Frontier service... it would be great if the Live TV app can connect to the HDHomerun's tuner (via DLNA?).

    :)

Receiving "Copying Prohibited" message on XBox Media Center

Microsoft's press release about Media Center on the XBox clearly states that an Exctnder should be able to play copy-once and Live TV content from my Windows 7 PC. If this is correct, then there is a definite problem here. If I start watching live TV and
navigate to CBS HD, I get the dreaded "copying prohibited" message on my XBox. This content plays fine on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC. Also, once I've navigated to a copy-once channel, all subsequent channels give me the same message until I turn off and turm
back on the Xbox. After that I can watch TV on the Xbox until I navigate to a channel that is copy-once.

I'm running everything on a local network and I'm using the HDHomerun Prime with a CableCard to tune in TV.

I can't find anything about updates to Win 7, the HDHomerun or Windows Media Center that might solve this problem.

Live TV on the Xbox One: Microsoft learns nothing from Google TV's mistakes

This article is right on the money about using IR blasters. The last time I used it was on ReplayTV around 2002, and I really hated it. It was a very bad user experience. I am not sure if Microsoft's support team want to be deal with this...

A better option, I think would be Xbox One (which seems to have a 64-bit Windows kernel) supporting external tuners such as HDHomerun (works over Ethernet). Or a USB-based ATSC or Cablecard tuners. Windows already have drivers and interfaces, and I think
it would be a much reliable and elegant solution to the dreaded IR blasters.

If Xbox One works with HDHomerun, it could replace my HTPC easily...

Live TV with an HDHomerun Prime (cablecard)

I couldn't agree more. The HDPrime IS a cable box. I went all around the settings and the best that can be done is connecting via the SiliconDust App. I've been trying to get NextPVR going, but that hangs. If I could add it as a cable box to the LiveTV...man...we'd
so be in business. Seems like a natural fit.

    Media Center Extender...

So Media Center will apparently not exist on Win10 (which most of us reading the tea leaves probably already concluded) but Paul Thurrott apparently has reason to believe that the Xbox One itself may be capable of recording TV in the somewhat near future.

    www.thurrott.com/.../confirmed-media-center-is-dead

Of course, many Media Center fans actually use the product to record and watch TV shows via Media Center PCs in the living room. Microsoft’s solution for this need will apparently be the Xbox One, though the console currently only provides live TV
watching, but not recording. My sources tell me that will change, and most probably this year, to include TV recording.
If anyone would have good inside MS sources, I suppose it would be Paul Thurrott. This by itself does not mean that the Xbox One will go so far as supporting a CableCard solution and being able to record and playback DRM protected content. It may just
mean that the XB1 will be able to one day record OTA via its recently announced adapter. That would be a disappointing half step, but I hope MS goes all in on this. It makes sense to kill WMC if your home console that sits under everyone's TV anyways performs
all of the chores that WMC did in the past. I also believe that anyone with a cable bill and an ability to do basic arithmetic could figure out that a CableCard enabled Xbox One DVR solution would pay for itself in about 1.5 -2 years, which would be a HUGE
    selling point IMO.

If that solution never comes to pass, I do like the sounds of SiliconDust's kickstarter project. I'm going to back it just to hedge my bets. :)
The model of the JVC is a LT-40FH97
Wow. That's old. It has a CableCARD slot! My TV has a CableCARD slot! Hi-five!

Some (if not all) of the very first generation 1080p LCD panel TVs did not accept input higher than 1080i, despite the panel being 1080p. Unfortunately, you're stuck at 1080i. It's not that the panel can't do it, it's that the electronics backing the panel
    can't accept anything higher.

The signal's going through a scaler/deinterlacer no matter what. May as well try using 720p. 720p will give you better vertical resolution.

Does anyone care you can watch TV on Xbox?

That is one thing that I have my eye on...Media Center. I have a HD Homerun Prime with 6 feeds of FiOS pumped into 4 Xbox's around the house. It's been running flawlessly. I'd like to keep that and hope either something comparable or better will be available.
FiOS charges an arm and a leg for their DVRs and I like my cablecards and their low monthly fees. Sounds like we have similar tastes in gadgets and electronic toys. =)
