Linking offline xbox 360 account to existing live account?

I know this has been discussed thousand times and most people say, why not just join from the xbox to create a new live account. Well, that all would be great, but...

My son has an existing xbox account (offline). He just got his first laptop, so daddy decided we should finally get the xbox account online. I was smart enough to notcreate an xbox live account from the computer...at least I thought so. So I went onto the
xbox to join his profile with xbox live. Well, since the profile is the one of a minor, it won't let me and tells me to create a new one at xbox.com.....So, no I have to active accounts, since MS forced me into this procedure, and I have no idea of how to
join them.

Any help would be appreciated.

xbox live and windows live accounts

I went to access the games store from Windows 8 and instead of linking to my existing Xbox Live account it made some generic one for me. I can't figure out how to link my existing xbox live account to my windows 8 installation. Can someone tell me how
I can unlink this generic xbox live account and link my existing one to it instead? Thank you.

Accounts ?

I just did this today with my offline partners profile which was on my own Gold account (360 )

You need to use a 24hr, 2 day, 7day pass and create an xbox live account for each of them, then port them across

Sorry but you can't merge 2 accounts.

@StrangeSubset1 Hey , maybe this can help you out : From what I understood your boy has a offline account on which he played only offline until now. Initially when he made this account I guess he made it as a child account and he added his real age there
( less than 18 years of age) . This means that now your boy's account can join live and play on xbox live only if it has a parent account linked to it. if your son's account is not like to a full adult xbox account( parent account) he wont be able to play
on xbox live because somebody needs to accept the terms of use and mange the content controls of this child account. What I would recommend you to try is to add your sons account to a parent account. You can try to add this child account to a New Microsoft
account ( it would be best to creat a new one for yourself) . I would recommend to contact Xbox Customer Support explain to the your situation and they can guide you on how this can be done , and what can be done in your situation. A resolution will be found
with a bit of luck and patience Good luck

Hi, I don't believe the is a way to link an offline account to an existing Xbox live account. You may be able to convert the offline profile to an online one but you would need to create a new account at that time.

Connecting to Xbox live with an existing account is exactly what i am trying to do.

You cannot link one account to another. Sorry to say it's just not possible. Unless you are trying to make your offline account an online one, then this should help (I got it from the Xbox support page)

To convert your offline profile into a gamertag, make sure that you have a Microsoft account available that's not currently associated with another gamertag.

Sign in to the profile that you want to convert from an offline profile to a gamertag.
Press the Guide button to bring up the mini-guide.
Go to Settings and then select Profile.
Select Join Xbox Live.
Enter your first name.
Enter your Microsoft account email address.
Enter your Microsoft account password.
Verify the information on the screen.
Verify the current privacy settings.
Review the
Microsoft Services Agreement and then select I accept.
