Link my Xbox profile to another pre-existing Microsoft account

I would like to maintain the same Xbox profile, but change the email account associated with it as I no longer wish to use my old one.

However the new email address is outlook.com domain so it already qualifies as a Microsoft account. Because of this, I cannot add it as an alias to my currently linked Xbox account.

I do not wish to create a new email, I should be able to link this one without going through so much trouble. I have tried multiple times to contact support to no avail as they will not enter the chat or respond to my query. I hope someone can see this and
help me here.

...The category that I selected for my problem to get here isn't even an option when I go to post this. It should be under Accounts and Email Addresses, but I will pick Accessibility as it is reasonably the closest, even though it is not right at all...

Since it is already a Microsoft account there is no way to add that email to the other account.

There is no way to move an Xbox profile from one Microsoft account to another.

There is no way to move an already existing Microsoft server/account email (outlook, Hotmail, live, MSN.com) to another Microsoft account.

If you are not wanting to use the email that is currently attached to your Xbox profile you are unfortunately going to have to create a new email address.

I just finished speaking with someone on Xbox support. For those interested in doing this, know that there are two options and Microsoft can't even fix this on the back end. Either make a new email with a Microsoft domain through the "add new alias" menu's,
DO NOT make the email separately first.

Or use a third party email.

I know both of these options are not what is described, unfortunately, it is not possible, but if you are lucky enough to read this before making the email, hopefully it helps.

You cannot transfer an Xbox profile to another Microsoft account, it is permanently linked to the Microsoft account it was created for.

Additionally, you can't add an existing Outlook email to another Microsoft account. As stated on the Microsoft Support website: https://support.microsoft.com/office/459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2

"Existing Hotmail, Live, Outlook.com, and MSN addresses can't be added as aliases, and you can't add an alias that is already associated with another Microsoft account."

In this case, your options are creating a new Outlook email for the Microsoft account linked to your Xbox profile, or adding an existing email from another service such as Gmail.

Sorry to hear it. It sounds as though you may have accidentally created another gamertag overtop your existing one. Please try the steps at the link below to move the new gamertag to another email address.
