Limit the games children play?

Hi is there a way that stops children being able to access 12 or 18 rated games? I have an 8 year old son who I trust but would prefer for him not to have the temptation of being able to access older games. We are usually in the room with him when he plays
but it would be nice to know that if we leave the room we know he isn't going to access inappropriate material.

I can't find how to control/limit time to play with Xbox One (for my children).

(With the precedent Xbox 360, we could select a maximum time to play per day).

In my house I have different bins for the disc games. I have the M box that is just for MOM and DAD. The T box has all the games my son is allowed to play. Some of them are M, but we talk about and preview each game before we let him play it.

In the parental controls you can limit the games he can play by user level, also, you can check his recently played games randomly to see if he is following your rules. If he has played a game that you do not permit then you will know about it.

I think it is great that you have the console in a public place. I am amazed about how many young kids have them in their bedrooms.

 

Related to this, I find it very odd that Microsoft hasn't found a way in over 2 years of Xbox One existence, to set time limits for each account. When I bought the console, I already had Windows 10 and it is closely linked to XBox One (even has it's own
app), so I thought that I can set limit for both machines with the same Family settings. But no... This console is clearly not for parents with children.

 

So the answer to this question is basically that every publisher has their own set of rules and if you have a child account set up under the age of 18 on Microsoft these publishers can block all of the features depending on the games ratings. If you have
any questions regarding this I would check the publishers websites or contact them before making your purchase. The only work around right now is to create an adult account if you want your child to be able to play these kinds of games.
