    License Transfer Problems + Shared DLC


    I got a new Xbox 360 recently, and my brother's account is on the hard drive for the old one. He has Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire for Skyrim, and I had them too because it was shared over the old Xbox. However, when I got the new Xbox, the DLC was
    restricted to my brother's account and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it on my account too. When I try license transfer, I get a screen saying, "There was a problem communicating with Xbox Live. Please try again later. For more info, visit
    www.xbox.com/support/licensemigration/." I try going to this website, and it says it either doesn't exist anymore or was moved. And I tried going through the instructions at License Transfer Problem
    and they did not help either. Please help.

    So, back in November I spend $350 on a Halo 4 LE xbox,right? Well, I've just gotten a new console so I have to do a license transfer for all my DLC to be accessible offline on my new console. After around 3 months of enjoying my console, I start to have
    problems with it. Power button turning red, games locking up while playing them, and the screen starts doing this crazy pixelation thing. Fun stuff, right? Well after I ship it off to redeem my 1 year warranty; I get back a completely different console. I
    know this because the serial number is different and I can't access any of my content offline. Guess what though? I had to do a license transfer for my new xbox, when I purchased the first one. I can't access any of my DLC offline because I can not do another
    license transfer until 3/30/2013. Is there any way to get my account unlocked before then? I would really like to finish my Dragonborn DLC.

    I got a new Console aswell, i transfered everything to my new xbox, Now all my DLC are broken, i did that licence transfer thing but it says ive done it before and that i can't do it again till December 5, the licencing thing is so retarted :/

    I figured it out.

    You will need a thumb drive.

    1. Copy your file on to the thumb drive.
    2. Copy the DLC on to the thumb drive.
    3. Take the old hard drive out.
    4. Place the new hard drive in.
    5. Copy all the data on the thumb drive for the game you have DLC for on to the new hard drive.
    It should work on the new hard drive now, it did for me.

    No it is not meant for sharing dlc

    it is to transfer licenses for the owner of the account not giving content to others

    yes that means license transfers are all or nothing

    I figured it out.

    You will need a thumb drive.

    2. Copy the DLC on to the thumb drive.
    3. Take the old hard drive out.
    4. Place the new hard drive in.
    5. Copy all the data on the thumb drive for the game you have DLC for on to the new hard drive.
    It should work on the new hard drive now, it did for me.

    Hey there Unkown! That's because license transfers aren't used for sharing DLC/Games without paying for them. The purpose of a license transfer is to transfer ownership of content from one console to another console; not to transfer ownership from one account
    to another.

    For example, proper use of a license transfer would be: You have an original Xbox 360 console and you buy an Xbox 360 S console. You then use a license transfer to transfer ownership of all of your DLC from your original console to your new console.

    also sharing dlc is a clear violation of the terms of use it is considered marketplace theft

    you may not use the license transfer to.share content for free

    only you and your consoles is allowed access to the dlc

    only your account can download the dlc

    Can I link 2 live accounts together?

    http://www.xbox.com/drm or on your console under Account Management run the License Transfer.

    -

    Re-download the content to refresh the license (if it is on the new console already then all that will be grabbed is the new license) and you'll be able to share most of your DLC again.

    Most DLC, the big exception being Avatar items, is licensed to two things. The account that bought it and the console it was first downloaded to. The second is the console license which lets other people use the DLC and that is what the license transfer
    moves to a new console.
