because all the 360 avatar assets are contained in the 360 store

Virtually all the licensed avatar gear has long since expired and you're right they could not give you access to things that have been delisted

  • Incorrect. the xbox original avatars app on windows 10, presumably windows 11, xbox one, and xbox series, is still supported and still modifies your xbox 360 avatar in cross-generation games like doritos crash course.

  • I did not mention the xbox 360 store. where did that come up and what does that have to do with the xbox 360 avatars? (unless you meant the original avatar app's store, which doesn't seem to be working, but that's not what I'm here for. please don't get this sidetracked.)
    

addendum: if you're responding to "I wanna know especially if there's an official negative reason why Microsoft can't do this", I was talking about licenses. maybe the avatar models were made by a super secret artist that wanted them to stay in the xbox ecosystem only or maybe the sponsored xbox apparel can't be used outside of those things. (in which case I would just restrict those specific items from being exportable forcing your avatar to change before export and indicate their restricted status somehow.)

I understand you need help with exporting Xbox avatar.

Sorry to disappoint you but I do not believe this is a feature on Xbox since you cannot export the avatar from the profile so you can use it for vtubing model.

We understand that you are trying to export an avatar using Xbox Avatar Editor. Based on your description you are having issues saving it. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

There is a way to import however, it this support article did not say about exporting so please see the steps below: (Create or update an Xbox Avatar | Xbox Support)

1. Launch the Xbox Avatar Editor app.
   
2. Select Xbox Original Avatar, and then choose your original avatar.
   
3. Select Import.
   

Have you tried saving it on your computer desktop? You may want to use the Drive C and select the Desktop folder to save your files. You may then see an Xbox GamerTag folder name in your computer, and you may select any files you may be needing for 3D viewing. This should launch 3D viewer by default and if it get stuck to 3D viewer logo, close it first and relaunch 3D viewer.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox Avatar Editor to see if that resolves the issue? Additionally, you may want to try exporting your avatar in a different file format, such as .fbx or .dae, to see if that produces a valid file.
