Less than a month of owning and I'm already having disc read / load issues

First off,

I would like to say that I've never had to fill out a support thread out because I've been a Sony Playstation 3&4 owner and have never had to send in my consoles. I owned an original Xbox about 10 years ago and loved it and later dealt with the red rings
of death on the used 360 I owned. I switched to Sony products after and didn't have any real hardware issues again. My family got me an Xbox One S for my birthday a few weeks back and I was very excited to be an Xbox owner again. That said, I've been disappointed
with my experience thus far as I've already had several issues with it (including just starting it up for the first time).

1. The very first time I started up the console got stuck on the Xbox One logo screen (had to hard reset to fix)

2. Part of the time says "No disc in drive" when trying to play movies.

3. Doesn't always acknowledge when I put a game disc (no error, but acts like I never inserted anything).

I'm very disappointed as I've had this for less than a month and it's been a disappointing experience thus far. I would hope that there is some kind of patch available, but my guess is that it's unfortunately related to a poor disc drive design.

If there is a simple fix I'm all ears, but I'm going to be very irritated if 3 weeks in I have to send in for a new console.

Please let me know if there's any easy fixes.

Xbox 360 won't read my games...

If you find that your console is consistently having issues reading a disc (especially if it is one particular disc), I would recommend installing the game to your hard drive. What this will do is allow your xbox to simply read a small portion of the disc
to verify rights, rather than having to constantly access the disc to load the game.

Random disc-read errors.

Dude, I have been having the same issues, my xbox is less than 2 months old, heck, forza hasn't been out of my disc tray since I got it, it's also installed. WTF is up with this?

I am having the same issue. I both the console during that Black Friday special on Microsoft.com. Now it just not reading any discs. It's been less than five months!

I've had my new console less than a month and tried today for the first time to install a game from disc. It pulls the disc in and that's it. It doesn't even seem to try and read it. The home screen just says insert disc as if nothing has happened. It ejects
ok and there's no error message, just won't read it at all. I've tried other blu rays and even my sons dvds but it will read nothing. Guess I'm sending my new console back for replacement. Pretty disappointing.

Even though you install the game from the disc on your hard drive the xbox still needs to confirm that you own that game.

When a disc gets scratched it matters how many scratches are on the disc and how deep those scratches are. The laser still needs to read the disc and if it can't read the data through the scratches then it will cause an error.

The point of installing from a disc is so that the game will load a bit faster. This also prevents less wear and tear on the drive because it's not constantly spinning. The drive will read the disc when you first put the game in to make sure you own it and
it will read all of the data so it's not constantly spinning. After it reads the disc it will stop and won't have to keep constantly reading the game.

If the game is not working for you try deleting it then re-installing it again. Hopefully it will work for you.

Well that is the issue. I have owned it less than 6 months and it dies. They claim its out of warranty.
