Legitimate help reusing a banned Xbox one s

My son has a permanent ban on an old Xbox one s. He reset it to factory settings and now it has no account on it and is just sitting in a corner collecting dust. I would like to give this Xbox to a friend who is ill and can't do much. The plan was to gift it to him with a a pile dvd games. Trouble is you cannot play the games as you need an account on the HDD. I know the Xbox cannot not be used for Xbox live and internet. Any legitimate ideas would be appreciated.

If you buy a legitimate copy from a legitimate retailer, you will not get banned

No one can give you a definite answer. But as long as it's a legitimate game disc, then you shouldn't be banned.

Probably to reduce the chances of people trying to reuse the same name in a different way repeating the same violation leading to a Perma ban

Modded controllers are grounds for a ban from The Service. There are legitimate 3rd party controllers. The SCUF controller is not one of those.
