  1. Latest Xbox Update (Xbox Series X) HDMI-CEC Broken

Firstly, please let me know if I need to call support to make them aware of this problem.

Since the last update I've been fighting with my Xbox Series X turning on my AV receiver and TV no problem, but failing to shut them down... I've done some testing and looks like I've verified that the console no longer sends the turn off signal when it shuts off.

I've been able to get it to work by switching the power settings from instant on to energy saving and vice versa, but after switching it only works ONCE. Then after that it never sends the signal again.

    Please fix this!

    :)

Xbox one won't turn on my insiginia tv when I turn the console on

Hi TexasMaster9351! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

HDMI-CEC is supported only on Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. You must also enable HDMI-CEC on your TV.

Xbox Series X|S consoles can use an HDMI feature called Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) to send commands to and from CEC-enabled devices (such as TVs and AVRs) that are connected to the console.

This feature can be turned on and off via the TV & A/V power options settings screen. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Sleep mode & startup > TV & A/V power options.

XBOX Series X Audio intermittent with A/V receiver

Update, I disabled eARC and HDMI ON to OFF on the Denon receiver. And on the TV, I also disabled eARC. On the Xbox series X I disabled CEC and ever since then I haven't had an issue with the audio. I did notice when I enabled CEC on the Xbox, and choosing Dolby Atmos I lost audio intermittently, so I just left CEC off. Unfortunately I have to use 3 controllers to turn everything on now. Now I can choose different audio formats with no audio loss.

Using PDPgaming Media remote on XBOX Series X console. Remote will not perform HDMI switch when using HDMI-CEC function. XBOX gaming remotes "paired" to console will perform the switch.

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good evening

It sounds like the PDP gaming media remote may not be fully compatible with the Xbox Series X console when it comes to HDMI-CEC function. One solution may be to try pairing the remote directly to the television, rather than the console, to see if that resolves the issue. Another option would be to check if the remote has any firmware updates available and ensure that it's running the latest version. If none of these solutions work, it's likely that the PDP gaming media remote is not designed to perform the HDMI switch function with the Xbox Series X. In this case, you may need to use an Xbox gaming remote that is specifically designed to work with the console.

    Hi,

Exactly which Xbox One model are you on? HDMI-CEC (the feature for what you’re trying to do) is only supported on Xbox One X and Series X|S consoles, and it’s not possible to enable this on any previous Xbox models.

Are you an Xbox Insider and what OS version are you currently on? You can find this info in Settings > System > Console info.

Your TV appears to support HDMI-CEC, so no concerns there.

If you have a compatible Xbox One and the software is updated, then verify that this option is enabled in Settings > General > Sleep mode & start-up > TV & A/V power options. Refer to:

How do I control other devices using HDMI-CEC? | Xbox Support

You may need to restart your console so that the changes properly take effect. Be sure to wait at least 10-15 seconds before reconnecting the power to completely reset the power supply.

Keep in mind that there are known issues with this feature as mentioned in the status for the most recent update here:

    What's new: Xbox system updates

    > Some players have reported that HDMI-CEC isn’t working correctly. Ensure that your TV supports HDMI-CEC and that it’s enabled. If the issue persists, report the problem

    Hope this helps.

Hopefully they'll have it fixed soon. I keep mine on and it works intermittently as well.
