Latest update added all kinds of unwanted stuff to dashboard

Try to Press the View button on your controller

The Customize Home menu will pop up. From here, you can add more items to your home, move what's there, or remove what you don't want to show up on your home screen. If you want your pinned items to show up first, ensure you move those to the top of the list on the Customize Home menu.

So in other words I'm stuck with all this junk I don't want because "friendlier" means our way or no way, I can only add 2 groups to the dashboard and can't remove or reorder any of it.

This is a common theme in updates, the idea is to provide a friendlier and newer experience to the user but you don't like this case I recommend this page which will tell you step by step how to customize your main menu

Pushing view doesn't do anything, they removed the option.
