Kinect Remote Code stopped working with Xbox One X

Hi,

I recently bought the official Kinect Adapter to connect my Kinect 2 which came along with my old Xbox One to my new Xbox One X.

Unfortunately, I am not able to control my Cable Receiver Vu+ Duo 2 anymore, when using Xbox One X instead of old Xbox One.

I use the very same Remote Codes which show up in my Xbox One One Guide / Control Devices Settings.

Position of all devices is unchanged. When connected to old Xbox One everything works, when plugging Kinect into the Kinect Adapter of Xbox One X, Controlling the Vu+ Duo2 does not work.

Switching on/off my TV and Soundsystem (Logitech) works. Changing Volume of the sound system works. The Kinect „glows red“ and inside the Kinect Settings menu I can see all three different video streams. The kinect also recognizes commands Like „Xbox ansehen
Channel name“ (German for „watch channel xyz“). It simply doesn‘t send the command to the Vu+ Duo2, while when using the old Xbox One, this perfectly works.

Both consoles One Guided were set up with the same ZIP Codes and Channel Lists. When using One Guide to check the channel list, same channel numbers show up on both consoles.

When setting up the Cable receiver I have tried to use the remote code shown on the Xbox One where everything works. As this didn‘t work, I tried all the entries which show up when providing „vu+” as the receiver brand and “duo2” as the model. None of them
worked.

Kinect 2 is connected with the Kinect Adapter which is connected with the USB Port 1 of the Xbox One X.

I didn’t expect that much trouble when upgrading from Xbox One to Xbox One X.

Hi Cyrix,

stupid me, this is it. Because the Xbox One X releases its hot air at the backside, I placed it with the front side to the cupboard, not being aware of that it has its own IR-Blaster. The strange thing is, that all other devices which are placed in similar
locations as the Receiver worked, while the receiver did not. But now that I turned around the Xbox everything works like a charme.

I did a factory reset of the Xbox One X and tried all steps of your "troubleshoot" link. I also tried to enroll in the "beta program" as I was hoping that the Problem might be fixed in a more recent Version of the OS. Unfortunetaly nothing helped. To me
it seems to be a software issue which can not simply be explained by the fact that Kinect is not supported anymore.

TV is the same

Receiver is the same

Kinect is the same

Channel Numbers are the same

and Kinect still is capable to Control Samsung TV and Logitech Sound via IR. Onlythe Receiver has stopped working, even though the same remote Code is used.

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this issue. Unfortunately the Kinect is no longer supported and that could be the reason certain features weren't implemented on the more recent versions of Xbox One. Check out this support article:

The Xbox One X doesn't use the Kinect to operate your other devices it has its own IR blaster on the front of the console. Ensure that the front of the console is not blocked or covered and your remote code should work fine

thx for yor reply. I understand that the support of the Kinect has been stopped, but I don’t see a plausible reason why this should exactly affect that one Cable Receiver. The Kinect still works with the Samsung UE55MU8009 and my Logitech Z906. The channel
list (channel numbers) on Xbox X are the same as on old Xbox. So the only thing which is missing, is taking that Channel number (e.g. 123) and convert it to an IR-command for the Cable Reveiver, which, btw. still can be found when setting up One Guide and
controllable devices. So when I am able to set up everything to the very same level as on my old Xbox, my expectations as a customer would be to receive the same result, especially if there is no message or something, that certain behaviours or functionalities
are are not available anymore.

Xbox One X is able to use the Kinect to send IR commands and it also knows, which channel number to send. The old Xbox One did support the Vu+ Duo2, while the Xbox One X does not. So the only thing missing in the chain is the lookup table, where the Xbox
has to look up how to encode the channel number in an IR-command.

I would understand that new hardware like Cable Receivers etc. is not supported anymore, as Kinect is not supported anymore. But why not use the very same lookup table which perfectly worked with Xbox One and simply reuse it with Xbox One X? That absolutely
doesn‘t make sense to me.
