Kinect not holding power

We have an older Kinect and a new Xbox One X, connected with an adapter. The Kinect turns on with the console, but stops working after only minutes. It also randomly powers back up, as if it went to sleep and then something woke it up. It seems arbitrary--
will wake up when we don't need it (like when we're watching Netflix) and go to sleep WHILE we're using it (during a Skype session). The adapter is an amazon purchase, is that most likely the culprit? My boyfriend is "not convinced" that's the problem. Anyone
else have this problem?

I really like my Kinect, wish it had a zoom feature when streaming.. But that does not answer your queation, I would make sure the conentions are clean and try again.

Yes it sounds like the adapter, Also they discontinued the Kinect so repair options are pretty much non existent unfortunately.

Hey there,

This is somewhat of a known issue, as over time, the Kinect device appears to lose intended functionality because of power issues. Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer supports the device, so there is no way to have the device repaired.

Everyone try this, worked fine after I did it.

Hold the power button on front of console (Xbox logo) for 10 secs. Unplug power cable then Kinect cable.

Plug in power cable only and power up your XB1.

Once it's powered on go to settings, Kinect. Your XB1 will tell you to plug in Kinect and Voila it's fixed

Hold down the power button on the console for 5 seconds to do a cold reset, then unplug the power for 30 seconds. Power it back on and see if the xbox is communicating with kinect.

If it still thinks the kinect is unplugged, and you know it is actually plugged in correctly, it could be a failed kinect sensor. You would need to contact support to initiate a warranty exchange.
