Kinect 2.0 for Xbox One S cables chewed up - do I have to buy a new Kinect?

Hey,

I recently bought a Kinect for my Xbox One S. Had to also buy the additional adapter - yay.

Anyway, I had this brilliant idea to let our rabbits play around in the living room without cable proofing behind the media bench first - bad move.

Luckily everything power related was plugged out, so no one was hurt, but every single cable was chewed to pieces.

This includes all cables for the Kinect for Xbox One S adapater, and the main thick cable to the Kinect.

So here's my dilemma. Do I have to buy a brand new Kinect just to get that one main cable again? As for the adapter I'll just have to buy a new one I guess.

I can't be the only one who has ended up in this situation, right? Thanks for any input.

Xbox 360 E Class A/V 3.5mm Composite Cable

When are the a/v cables for the 360 E class going to come out? My dog chewed up my cord last august and I have been searching for a new cable. Haven't seen any yet. It has been over half a year and still no a/v cords available. I have checked the Xbox Home
Page, GameStop, Radio Shack, Best Buy, and Amazon.com.

Apparently it also means the people who used to hook up the old Kinect to their PCs for fiddling won't be able to do it with this new one, at least not without voiding the warranty entirely. xP Fortunately, you will be able to buy an entirely new Kinect
2.0 for your computer as well.

It is possible for your to send your Kinect Camera to Microsoft for repair using
this link however I would advise to speak with the
Xbox Support team prior to arranging a repair of the camera to check if it is something that Microsoft will be able repair for you and also if the repair is economical from your point of view.

The Kinect cable is built in at the Kinect End, and has a Special Built connector at the other (The end in the X1/360). So you will not be able to detach it from the other end.

And while it is no different from any other A/V rig, it does have some differences. If your HDMI gets chewed or broken, you normally have spares, i know i do, loads, or you just pop to the shop to get one. At no more than a fiver.

Whereas, if the cable gets damaged on the Kinect 2 (or the Kinect dies), there is no current going out to buy a new one, they are not sold separate, as they will be included in every machine and are mandatory. You will be at the mercy of what Microsoft want
to charge, as your X1 will be a brick until you get a new one.

I do not care for tin foil hat issues, i care that if it gets damaged you are at the mercy of the company, for what may cost in excess of £100 to replace.

Yes, it's a huge PITA. I have my Kinect 1.0 sitting on my centre speaker, under the screen. I have an active USB extension cable to run from the sensor to my equipment rack. Works perfectly.

The kinect 2.0 cable is WAY too short. There currently is no extension available, with only vague promises of support in the future. I have my Xbox One in my rack, with the kinect 2.0 cable hanging in the open and just reaching my front right tower, where
the sensor sits. Ugly and I hate it, but it works.
