Kernel power event 41 (63), especially with Microsoft Flight Simulator

Hello, I have been trying to solve this issue for months now without success. Really hoping someone can help. I have a new build PC (Ryzen 5800x, MSI B550 motherboard, Nvidia 3070 Ti GPU, Windows 10). Sometimes when gaming, and without fail 15-20 mins in when playing Microsoft Flight Simulator, my screen will freeze and go dark accompanied by a buzzing sound on the speakers, and then the computer reboots. No BSOD, just right to reboot.

I have replaced the PSU, reseated everything, and I have added an uninterruptable power supply. I have updated various drivers, and made tweaks to various Windows power settings but nothing seems to fix it.

I used WinDbg to open the MEMORY.DMP file but I have no idea what any of this means. Thank you in advance for your time and any assistance you may be able to offer.

Kernel power event 41 (63), especially with Microsoft Flight Simulator

Good morning, Airman! Thanks for the information here, I'll do my best to get it to whom can understand it better than I. 😉

That said, it would be helpful if you could submit a bug report through Feedback Hub. You should be able to attach the generated file to the report you submit, which will help a lot as well.

In the interim, would appreciate if you could give me additional information:

    1. Are you on the latest NVIDIA drivers?
    2. Are you overclocking anything at all, by any chance?
    3. Have you changed your NVIDIA settings to anything other than the default?
    4. Do any other intensive games (think high particle effects, lots of fancy graphics, stuff that makes your GPU run hot) trigger this?
A lot of the research I've got on this problem indicates that the problem normally has to do with a power failure somewhere in the hardware, which we wouldn't be able to diagnose through here. Other points have mentioned that it could be related to faulty NVIDIA drivers in a recent update, which we might not be able to help with too much (naturally, we can't speak for NVIDIA).

So let's get to ruling a few things out!

Thank you for the reply! So in a stroke of good luck after months of troubleshooting I *think* I managed to resolve the issue. I don’t know exactly how (I probably should have changed one thing at a time) but I ended up tweaking a few settings in the BIOS including disabling C-states, as well as PBO. I did not have any other over clocking set. Managed to run Flight Sim for hours without a hitch which was a first.

PC FREEZES AND CRASHES! KERNEL 41 (63) error displayed on event viewer. Please Help!

    Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to share about the problem with The Division 2.

Since you have mentioned that the issue only occurs when the game is running, it is likely that the issue is caused by the anti-cheat driver installed on the system. I recommend you to contact the game's developers for further assistance.

Based on the information you have shared, we understand that you are playing The Division 2, and since your concern is posted in the wrong category (Windows 11/Gaming), we will be moving this thread to the correct category (Game issues), where moderators in the corresponding category will assist you further on your concern.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

PC FREEZES AND CRASHES! KERNEL 41 (63) error displayed on event viewer. Please Help!

    Thanks so much Johann.

I read about the anti-cheat driver causing crashes, and some articles also suggested to set the anti-cheat software's core utilization to a single core. I do that every time I run the game, but to no avail. The PC still crashes.

Thanks for moving the post to the appropriate category. Looking forward to any guidance.

    Best,
